This is the canonical (literally) example of “counterpoint” – Bach’s inventions. It’s pretty incredible to have these scrolling videos following the scores.

LilyPond – Music notation for everyone: LilyPond... music notation for everyone
For music composition, notation software is an alternative to DAWs. Working with music notation instead of the actual audio is a more formal approach than a digital workstation like Logic Pro X and many composers use Finale and Sibelius. I just discovered LilyPond, which is an open source (/free) markup language and software tool to notate music. The interesting part for me is that the markup itself could be generated programmatically by any programming language.

Notation software is one type of digital tool for composition. Obviously, working with music notation instead of the actual audio is a more formal approach than a digital workstation like Logic Pro X. Regardless, Finale and Sibelius are the most common solutions. I just discovered LilyPond, which is an open source (/free) markup language and software tool to notate music.
