nylaperran:Â
oh, creators. nyla had ducked into the shadows, hoping to slip out among the other beings slipping through the door, speaking in low whispers. but the kingâs voice has her rooted to the spot with tray still in her hand. feet are silent as she turns to face the man with fear clearly writ across her face before she is able to school it into something more tame, blank, gaze diverted. quick steps are taken across the room until she is before him - remaining little more than an armâs length away - with eyes still cast towards the floor. â - yes, your majesty?â accented words come soft and semi-choked.
The king eyed her as she came closer, wondering if she was in fact one of his and he had just never taken notice to her. His hand came up, gripping her chin and turning her face to the side, looking at the scar on her cheek. No, she was not of his, he was almost sure of that, Robert might rule with an iron fist, but he had never marked one of his servants in such way.Â
He finally let go of her. âYou are not from here... are you?â his voice cold as the weather outside of his castle.Â
cemlin:Â
Another scoff left the brunette, pursing her lips together when she heard the Kingâs words. âPerhaps your father and I would not have gotten along as well as I would have liked.â Although she knew that men thought themselves superior, the lady was far too independent to be reduced to a simple seed bearer. âSo, you are telling me that I should lie to you, Your Grace?â After all, she had told the King that her father taught her honesty â with the point he was trying to get across, surely he was telling her to not listen to her fatherâs words. Perhaps the King was just getting far too confused with the conversation.Â
âI know you are a King.â The girl began, bowing her head, as if telling him she meant no disrespect. âKings expect to always get what they want.â Whether it was her only opinion, she had come to face it as a fact.Â
A low chuckle filled the hallways they found themselves in, reminding them just how alone they were in the cold space. Once again he started to walk around the girl, his hands firmly locked on his lower back, his posture straight as a king are to be. âYou miss interpreted my words Miâlady...â he stated softly âI was merely saying that we donât always follow our elderâs teachings...â his voice was only matched by the sound of his steps âAnd while you may say that you have been taught to always be honest... Iâve been with plenty of women in my days to know that not all say what is crossing their minds...â. He stopped at once, only he stop behind her.Â
âIâve been getting my way long before I was a king... â he sounded cold in his words, almost like he had been offended by what she said to him âNow...â he was starting to get tired of this games âAre you going to be truthful or graceful?!...After all... you are speaking with the King...â
Nohanwan is a plutocratic nation in north eastern Dragonstone
nylaperran:
it is the shouting that startles her, wincing quietly against the cold stone of the walls. she is here only to serve drinks, to keep goblets full and those more important than her pleased. she hasnât expected such noise. the tray in her hand clinks noisily as nyla cringes. it is a trained action - fear of such tones - but she regrets the loud sound of metal in the suddenly quiet room. eyes turn from the table to her and she ducks her head.
As it wasnât bad enough to be stuck in that room for that long with a bunch of people that wanted to talk about all but what they were there to discuss. Now he had everyone distracted by the clinking noised coming from the servants. She wasn't one of his, they knew that to be noticed in a room such as this. âOut...â his voice cut through the silent room like a sharp night âWe will return after the feast...â it wasnât like there was much to do there. âYou... Girl...â he pointed to the servant that caused the final distraction âCome here...â The king called her out to him, as the people left the big room leaving them practically alone.
cemlin:Â
It was as if they were dancing without moving their feet, to a music that was silently being played inside both of their minds. A deadpan look on her face, Callista locked her fingers together, standing tall and wearing the stance that she had been taught ever since she first hit womanhood. Her mother talking to her all about being proper, showing just enough and never too much. And Callista still lived by those teachings, using the little power she had been given.Â
And sure sure as hell would make the most of it. A lopsided smile appeared on his lips, a sharp breath escaping her nostrils as she let her gaze fall upon hearing the kingâs words. Such a clichĂ© thing to say. Soon after, her expression went back to how it was, right before she spoke. âMy father always valued honesty.â A lie. That was all she said, hopefully enough to give the King an answer.Â
Such soft change on her posture, and yet, for a hunter like Robert that was used to observe all and everything around him, the breath escaping her told him more that she would be willing to say. He gave her a nod at her answer like he would consider her answer to be enough. But the king was a hunter at his core, he wasnât giving up just like this âAnd I my father used to say that woman are only in this earth to live long enough to bare you a decent son...â harsh words to be spoken in front of a lady, but he had a point to show âIt doesn't mean I listen to all my father told me...â and the smirk was back on his face.
âMiâlady... you have yet to answer my question... and I can tell you are smart enough to know Iâm not that easily moved from what I want...â
cemlin:
When the king kissed the back of her hand, the lady-in-waiting gave him a small smile, letting her gaze fall for a moment. To catch the attention of a king was what many women were taught to strive for. It was a somewhat powerful feeling, Callista often imagined, to have powerful men grow weak in their knees at the sight of a beautiful woman â sometimes, that was all a girl had.Â
He was quite charming, sheâd give him that. No doubt wrapping women around his finger just for one night with him. âThe honor is all mine.â Callista said.Â
Tilting her head to the side, the lady kept her cat like eyes on the king. Every word she spoke was given thought to it â and this situation was no different. âDo you want an honest answer or one that you have sure heard time and time again from your court visitors?â The mage asked, casually.
A wolfish grin came alive on the kingâs lips. This was one of the smart ones, a woman made to rely on her mind and cunning to survive in this world. While Robert could bed any woman that called to his attention, only a hand full could keep him interested long enough for him to keep them for longer than the first encounter. And a smart mind was highly ranked on his list. Any woman could open her legs for him, but only some get to open their mouths and be listened by the King.
âWith time I came to find that both answers amuse me...â he answered with clear joy in his tone âNow the question is... â He eyed her up and down in a clear challenge.
âWhich one are you willing to give me?...â
catalinasms:Â
catalina no idea that the man was the KING, due to the hood he wore to conceal his face. âso that means you should move.â her patience was already growing thing, having had the worst of days. when he made no efforts to move, she turned a bit, trying to get a BETTER look at him. Â
His mouth turned to a smirk when she told him to move, The king always had liked her spunk, that is one of the reasons he had kept her for so long. Not turning to face her, or make her recognition of him easier for her he only asked âWhat if I donât move?!...â he let a long pause between them before calling her by his pet name for her âMeâflowerâ
cemlin:Â
âYes, very kind.â Just like before, her tone was convincing. âI am sure she will enjoy the short stay.â Â Just like she had always been taught, she gave a diplomatic answer. Even if Fiona did not enjoy it, it didnât hurt to keep up appearances. Although Callista feigned an awkwardness, to have a King circle her like a falcon ready to attack, inside she was calm. It was unnoticeable, however, and all anyone could see would be her gaze falling, as if she was bowing her head once again.Â
When she heard the King ask for her name, the young mage â a secret that she would die with â looked up, meeting the Kingâs gaze with piercing blue eyes. âLady Callista, Your Majesty.â
No one ever enjoyed being in Nohanwan, it was a cold place, with even colder people, but the kind liked when people forced polite replies out of them. It was how they did it in the south, the polite way, not the upfront answer the king was used to give, it amuses him when people tried to be polite to him, it always did and it wasnât about to stop now.Â
The king took her delicate hand to his and placed his lips on the back of her palm âEnchanted Lady Callista...â and in fact, he was enchanted.Â
âBut do tell me... What do you think of my home kingdom?â
infernclqueen:Â
â and iâm happy that you are, robert. â
as she spoke, she placed her hands on the other monarchâs shoulders, giving a light squeeze before letting go and pouring a glass of her personal wine for each of them, slender fingers wrapping around her chalice as she offered the other to robert, nodding a couple times with nonchalance.
â i BELIEVE so. are you hungry? â
Robert took the glass offered to him with his usual grace. For a man his size, he did hold a grace to himself, one that comes from being breed for a position as the one he now has. He took a sip of his drink, recognizing the liquid as one of her best. âStarving...â it had in fact been a long day âWill you care to help me on that?!â he smiled to the woman, a glint of misfit behind his pearly whites.Â
cemlin:Â
To be able to do what she had promised herself she would do, Callista had to be knowledgeable; that meant knowing what people she should know the name of and the people that mattered. After all, she was a lady-in-waiting to a Queen â she ought to keep up. Upon noticing she was in the presence of a King, Nohanwanâs monarch, the girl bowed her head. âYour Majesty.â Words spoken softly but loudly enough, to show him respect every monarch demands. âThe Queen does need her time alone, just like everyone else. Queen Fiona is kind enough to relieve me of my duties when she does not need me.â Just saying those words left a bitter taste in her mouth.Â
Robert gave her a small nod as she bowed to him. The king was used to people knowing him, even before he knew them or their names. âKind enough...â he repeated her words noticing a bit of bitterness in them. He could have been wrong, but it looked like that was more to her words than what she was saying âIn any case... I hope Nohanwan agrees with your Queen as she stays in my humble home...â his castle was anything but humble, build to outstand the cold winter time and the passing of centuries. He walked closer to her, looking at the young girl and he made a full circle around her, not hiding the fact that he was looking her up and down.Â
âIâve never did get your name young one...â
adriienee:
Adriene lowered into a well practised curtsy but her eerily pale eyes did not leave the Kings face. âI doubt it your Grace. Unless you storm the council, the Queen is busy.â Adriene rose again, voice steady âI have offered my help Your Grace, the only other thing would be to offer you a room to sit and wait.â She arched a red brow âWill i send the servants to tidy one for you?â
The kingâs jaw locked into a tight grip fighting his will to just storm in the council and demand to be received by the queen as he should be. He had been invited, after all, the least respectable thing to be done was for him to be received as his position demands. But he wouldnât fuss over this, at least not now, the king would save this for later and used it to his best interest. âIf you must...â he said waving his hand dismissively âHave them set up a bath... itâs been a long ride over...â
;; .âąàź It was rarely that Lanaya was be able to ride a horse theses days, even when the young elven woman had always felt more connected to those graceful creatures than many humans were for sure.
When hearing noises in the distance, she stopped. Almost like a statue on the pale white horse which ears were flickering nervously. If the wrong person would see her like this, Lanaya could be in deep, deep trouble, even without the fact that she hadnât even been stealing the horse to begin with. Lanaya watched the other person passing by, praying the would just continue their way without saying anything to her.
Robert was out in one of his hunts when the running of a horse caught his attention. It wasnât abnormal for riders to pass this way, but this deep into the woods it was a rare occurrence, especially at this time of the day this deep in the underground levels. The king eyed the female rider from under his dark hood âDo you find yourself lost young maiden?â that would explain the look on her face, or at least be one of the explanations for such troubled look.Â
infernclqueen:
the mage looked up with her impassive green eyes from the papers she was reading over, already knowing who it was if only for the voice he carried. a grin parted her lips and she stood up, leaving the quill on the table.
â ah, robert! my dear, youâre good. how was your trip? â
âKaterina... â he step closer to her table where papers pile on top of other papers âLong and unpleasant...â he admitted, it wasnât like he had a good time on the harsh road to Kederrakath âBut Iâm here... just like you have requested...â and while he was sure she had a reason to extend her invitation, it was late and not the time to talk about business or political strategies âare you done for the night Miâlady?...â
queenfiona:
she remained silent for a moment, the kings words ringing through her ears. fiona was not used to being spoken to in such a manner. âi beg your PARDON, your highness, but i was not acting like a child.â the queen finally replied, her tone a bit cold. a meeting she had suspected to be short had taken HOURS, and her patience was long gone by now. with a small shake of her head, she began to speak again. âas i was saying, we need to find a different trade route. the one we have NO longer works for my men.âÂ
The long hours werenât helping anyone. And while he spoke to the room, he wasnât talking to Queen of Olelasa when he called out the child comment, she had been giving her opinion, it was the rest of the room were bickering like children. He looked at her and gave her a small almost invisible nod âYou heard the lady...â he said âOur old route is compromise... Is time to visit the other options...â he pushed the map they all be fighting over for the last hours âWhat if we reinforced security here...â he pointed to one of the valleys between Arav and Edareviel âCan we use this way as an alternative?â
