Good People, I'm excited to share the cover of my next poetry joint: What Can I Tell You? Selected Poems.
For a poet, I'm usually speechless. I hope you'll support this work. It's scary to have your artistic progression all in one place. Here we go. 🙏🏾
Thank you, Dr Marisel Moreno and Dr Silvio Torres-Saillant for contributing to this collection. & to @edward_vidaurre & @flowersongpress
Truly in awe of all you do.
Thank you, Ann @31annotations for always putting onto the page what I visualize in my head for my covers.

“I refuse to believe that we are going to let ourselves be manipulated into oblivion by some of the most illiterate people in the history…
A short essay on the state of American violence.
“In America, we are kept in a state of perpetual fear by the threat of violence. The truth is we are a desperately frustrated citizenry and a desperately oppressed people. But we have no way of articulating any of that desperation and oppression because we can’t stop regurgitating the violence heaped on us by our oppressors…All of this is violence, and what is worse still is pretending that none of it is true. If we are fed violence for entertainment and consume it freely, how can we process actual violence?“
Los escritores aprenden a mirar. En este momento, el mundo nos está dando mucho que observar, dice Roberto Carlos García. El poeta y ensayis

Poet, storyteller, and essayist Roberto Carlos Garcia is a self-described “sancocho […] of provisions from the Harlem Renaissance, the Spanish Poets of 1929, the Black Arts Movement, the Nuyorican School, and the Modernists.” Garcia is rigorously interrogative of himself and the world around him, conveying “nakedness of emotion, intent, and experience,” and he writes extensively about the Afro-Latinx and Afro-diasporic experience.
His second poetry collection, black / Maybe: An Afro Lyric, is available from Willow Books. Roberto’s first collection, Melancolía, is available from Červená Barva Press. His poems and prose have appeared or are forthcoming in POETRY Magazine, The BreakBeat Poets Vol 4: LatiNEXT, Bettering American Poetry Vol. 3, The Root, Those People, Rigorous, Academy of American Poets Poem-A-Day, Gawker, Barrelhouse, The Acentos Review, Lunch Ticket, and many others.
He is founder of the cooperative press Get Fresh Books Publishing, A NonProfit Corp. A native New Yorker, Roberto holds an MFA in Poetry and Poetry in Translation, and has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize.
