Jason haters who think Under The Hood is the founding Jason comic and haven't read his post-crisis robin run are so obvious to me like babe Winick's writing is in dialogue with Starlin's you are missing so much context

"Jason objectively got the best treatment out of all the bat kids and still had the loudest grievances" -> parenting so bad that "accusing your kid of murder and deciding that whether it did it wasn't relevant because your feelings matter more, blaming them for a guy whose death you caused, and then not following them when they run away to another country despite concerns that he is suicidal, a chain of events ultimately resulting in his death" is the blueprint lmao

"Jason's expectations for Bruce are completely unreasonable, he had no reason to be mad about Bruce not killing the Joker Bruce is allowed to have boundaries he doesn't owe Jason that, Jason is fucked up for deciding Bruce owed him that" -> someone has not read Consequences and it shows

"Jason's decision to use guns must be so traumatic for Bruce" -> boy I sure do wonder who taught Jason how to use firearms

"unlike Steph, who had to prove herself again and again and was never considered good enough, Jason was immediately accepted" -> yeah Jason was so lucky that despite committing numerous acts of heroism, including before becoming Robin, Bruce kept viewing Robin as something to "save Jason from the criminal element" because to Bruce, no amount of bravery and martyrdom was ever gonna absolve Jason from being a thief, a classist narrative that culminates in extreme post-mortem victim-blaming so intense that the classism permeates into Bruce's relationship with Steph herself and compounds on the obvious sexism.

"Steph had to fight so hard to earn respect as a vigilante and then the robin mantle was immediately taken away, meanwhile Jason was just given Robin immediately!!!" -> "given" is really not the word I'd use.

Once again reminding y'all that there is no basis in Jason's og post-crisis robin run for the claim that he and Dick "barely knew each other" or "didn't get along".

"but they only interacted twice!" Yeah, over 30 jaybin issues, most of which focusing on Batman storylines. Do y'all also assume that during the three years Jason was Robin, Batman and Robin only got involved in 10-15 cases?

They only interacted on-screen twice. (And they were very cute the whole time.) Dick grieved that kid. He wasn't a footnote, he haunted him. They went on a ski-trip together.

The claim that jaybin and dick were not close based on a count of their shared issues that doesn't account for scaling is a personal headcanon, and the insistence on claiming it as canon based on early post-crisis is bizarre.

People be going after jason fans calling shit fanon over some bold takes tbh, yeah, obviously they don't have the on-screen history dick and timbin have, have you seen how big tim's robin run is? They decided to kill-off jaybin after less than 30 issues and y'all act like that just invalidates one of the few deep and meaningful relationships he had jaybin fans can never have a win.

You're saying the character that had a very (and unexpected!) short run irl that laid the basis for a complex relationship with another character, including additional hints added here and there over the years after his death, got people to regularly explore and discuss said relationship to fill in the gaps in his ~3 years tenure in universe so that it matches other canon references to that relationship?

No writers expected Jason's sudden death, no more than characters in universe did, so there was no need to rush any development 'on panel', especially when it happened in the middle of Dick's huge fallout with Bruce and his quest for independence as Nightwing. There was still plenty of materials to work with but you couldn't do anything with the meager amount of issues at disposal at the time. Then Jason was dead and there was a new Robin so they moved on.

There's a reason elseworld/AU stories and modern media adaptations do more to acknowledge their relationship, or use the dynamic they would have had if they had had more time in the postcrisis continuity (eg. Robin Lives!, Young Justice animated where Dick and Jason were very close before his death as stated by the show creator, etc).
