I’m working on the post explaining all the little details and references in the fic in tandem with writing the final chapter. Pretty much none of it can be shared until the fic is finished, unfortunately. But there’s one thing I can explain now. So enjoy this little taste of what’s to come. 

Food at Ivan’s place 

I don’t know if anyone picked up on this, but the food they eat at Ivan’s place was an intentional biblical reference to foreshadow Ivan’s mother being religious.  

In chapter 3 Centrifugal Force, Ivan makes the two of them warm apple juice. Then in Chapter 6 Relativity, he feeds Lovro actual apple slices. 

So, apples being the forbidden fruit of original sin in the Bible, the obvious reference here is to queer love being perceived as a religious sin. In chapter 3, that sin is introduced to Lovro in a milder form - apple juice - a derivative of the sin, like a crush is to actual action on said crush. Lovro critiques the juice for being too sweet, just as he does himself for having feelings for Ivan. But he drinks it anyway, just like how he stands up Ema in favour of Ivan. Once they share their first kiss, Lovro has properly committed the sin, and they share an actual apple together.

Ivan being the one to give it to him also represents the way that he has already ‘sinned’ by being with a guy, like how Eve feeds Adam the apple after she herself has taken a bite.  

When Ivan’s mother walks in on them eating the apple, she asks, “Do you boys not want some real food?” Then offers them fresh bread instead - bread, of course, being the body of Christ. The implied message here is that she does not approve of queerness and is trying to dissuade them from committing ‘sin’ by bringing them closer to God.

thank you sm for the concern. just so people don't worry too much, physically, i am fine. luckily, it was not me who needed to be seen in hospital. i was just in and out visiting and caring for someone else. but has still been quite a stressful few weeks, and as much as i love writing this fic and am really excited for the final chapter, if i need to take more time off writing it to focus on other stuff, i will. hugs x

Number 1 fan of your fic here! Just curious if you are planning to roughly follow the OG timeline? Btw the "It's better this way" line hit WAY more in your version, because poor Ivan hasn't done anyyyything wrong (yet) 😭

to answer the question, i would say yes. there's quite a lot of canon divergence, and the actual events are going to be quite different, but the pacing of the plot will be similar.

i haven't actually updated it on a03, but the plan has always been 10 chapters - so there are 3 more to go. there was just an extra thing i wasn't sure if i wanted to tag onto the end or not (which will probably just be posted here instead) so i kept it unknown. but yeah 10 chapters approooooximately following the OG timeline

also you guys are killing me with all these little observations about the fic. if you're reading the ending and end up going, 'wait, is this fucking play about us?' know that i had all that already written lmao, but i think that makes it even funnier

What’s ur fave ep of sram? I really like ep 1s3 for some reason it was just so cool to watch live(if we r taking clips tho it’s last clip of ep9s3)😋😋

it's difficult, but my favourite ep. of s3 would probably be ep.5, closely followed by ep.3.

ep.5 just had a generational run of clips. i really like all the sweet moments they share (sue me, i love fluff). obviously, i'm biased, but understanding that the flowers were a reference to the little prince because of the mural was such a cool detail to me. the vito clip is also really important to me. as much as i think eskild's orginal speech is probably one of the most important parts of the og, that clip is always a tough watch for me. i want to scream at isak like 'no no no no, don't say that, please don't say that' when he starts being condescending. so i end up cringing too much at isak to really focus on what eskild is saying. but lovro's in so much distress, it's a bit easier for me to sit with the point of the clip and not judge him so much for that. i also really liked the way they changed the ending to fit lovro and ema's dynamic a bit better.

as for ep.3, it's just a full course tension and yearning meal. the dream clip kind of broke my heart, but it was also so beautiful. and i thought the gym clip was just a genius change.

for watching live, though, nothing will beat ep.8 - that shit was crazy. one of my big critiques of sram would be that the pacing is often a little off. but for ep.8 it was perfect. honestly, i don't think you can fully appreciate ep.8 if you didn't watch it live because watching things go downhill in real time was so anxiety inducing in the best way. also, epic coming out scene with his mum. i cried. a lot.

for clips, i am also a massive fan of the final clip of ep.9 - it really hit all the right emotions. that hug, in particular, is like a punch to the gut for me. but after that, utorak 10:12 will always have my heart (again with ep.5). it completely changed my understanding of the show and lovro's character. i'm also obsessed with the colouring and that shot where he jumps through the sofa.

outside of s3, i really liked ep.2 of s1. i think they do a really good job of portraying eva's emotions, and watching jakov and lovro be idiots together is pretty fun ngl. petak 23:17 in s2 also broke me. i'll be honest, it had been a while since i'd watched s2 of skam and i'd kind of forgotten that part, so i really wasn't prepared. the clip ended, and i was just sat still with tears streaming down my face.
