the last bird, a grey plantain-eater, took a liking to my shoulder after I fed it and and rubbed its neck, and it groomed me for awhile before settling down onto my neck for a nap. It really warmed my heart (and my neck).
I suspect that the “drab” birds in the enclosure receive less attention and feed from visitors than do the colorful ones in the same enclosure (don’t worry, enclosures separated by feed and environment.)
