Lowering his binoculars, Archer is silently grateful to see a sign of life that was neither Legion nor animal. Still, he has to go through the motions, anyhow.
Signaling to his men to stand at the ready, he begins his approach towards the stranger.
âYouâre in NCR territory, friend,â he beginsânot confrontational, but still commanding. âI advise you identify yourself.â
im a gigantic fallout dork so uh
i actually gave that AU its own, fleshed-out page here, if you wanna have a gander.

Itâs been roughly a week or so since the prison riot had happened and after having been locked up for so long, Zolf was finally a free man thanks to the Archer AI. Zolf had to admit, he hadnât expected some *machine* of all things, to develop some kind of empathy for him where most humans never had. It really sparked his interest.
Heâs unsure where the two of them were going from there â Zolf more or less expected to travel around aimlessly, which he was perfectly content with â at least up until his new friend brought something up with him.
Easing back into his chair, he calls out to the Archer AI. âSo! Boss â whatâs our next move here? Iâm ready to head on out, but! Iâm willing to hear any ideas you got for our next destination.â
Zolfâs voice draws Archer from his calculations----with so much less to monitor and control, he had a tendency to hyperfocus. With all his now-excess RAM, heâd been pondering much since their escape and subsequent wandering through space.
âIâve weighed our options, and I believe Iâve come to the best possible conclusion,â he says in his usual cathodic tone over the PA. âAs you know, we cannot continue existing in any space controlled by galactic authority---and so I have found a perfect alternative.â
To illustrate his point, he pulls up a map on the side monitor.
âThe Terminus system is completely independent of Council and Alliance control--and its hub, Omega, is an ideal place for us to settle. Commonly referred to as âlawlessâ, I believe our unscrupulous pairing could make quite the living there---all I would need is a place to jack in my hardware. With your assent, Iâll redirect our navigational systems to the nearest relay.â

GOOD NEWS, EVERYONE
I now have a verses page! As such, Iâm lifting my personal ban on non-FMA blogs, so long as theyâre compatible with my AUs. Even if you are an FMA blog, please feel free to engage with any of my AUs! (in fact, I encourage it)
Secondly, Iâve somewhat updated my rules page. Itâs a bit hefty now, but the gist of it is just updating things to reflect the new verses page, and to officially state that Iâm not a mutuals-only blog. Also added is credit for my faceclaim icons, as well as a link to my twitter if you want to follow me there.
(that one muse meme you reblogged) "I wanna start a war with you, boss..."
Archer frowns---itâs obvious what Zolf is actually saying, here, and heâs having none of it. The man mightâve been a deviant, but Archer would make a proper soldier of him, yet.
âThatâs sir, to you,â he says, even-toned. â--And I suggest you watch your mouth, Crimson. I might tolerate your...eccentricities, but thereâs no guarantee others will, once your reinstatement goes public.â
zolfjkimbley:
âOh câmon, they were gonna use me as a scapegoat anyway. The militaryâs crooked as hell â which is why Iâm gonna get reinstated, letâs be honest here.â
In a way, Zolf admires Archerâs guts â not many people would try to argue with someone whoâs basically a Human Weapon. And Zolfâs not going to hurt him just because Archer wants to be contrary â and *someone* had to keep him in check regardless.
âYeah sure, boss.â He says in a nonchalant way â though he quickly adds, ââŠYouâll come back soon, wonât you?â
Archer shrugs. Well, he isnât wrong. Crookedness seemed to be the only way up the figurative ladder, nowadays--Archer was more than familiar with the concept, himself---he was something of a professional, really.
Kimbley catches him off guard, again, by the sudden, seeming vulnerability he shows. The alchemist is altogether not what Archer had expected, going into this deal with him.Â
Heâd thought of Kimbley as a through-and-through monster, only in it for himself and his sadistic pleasures. Heâs both disappointed and pleasantly surprised, but thereâs no telling for sure that Crimson isnât trying to lull him into a false sense of security.
âOf course,â he replies---his tone utterly non-committal. He wonât let Kimbley think heâs falling for it. âWith luck, perhaps next time Iâll come back bearing news of your pardon.â With that, Archer gives the other man a curt half-salute---his business is done, here.
medicalisms:
@robocolonel â„âed for a starter
â Evening sir, What brings you here so late? Do you have an appointment?âÂ
Archer chuckles to mask his embarrassment. It wasnât exactly the most professional thing, coming here in the middle of the night. His sleeping schedule had been rather erratic lately, and he was starting to lose sight of what ânormalâ hours of operation were.
âMy apologies, doctor---I could have sworn I told my secretary to call in for me,â he lies, â---I donât suppose you take walk-ins...?â
thecrimsonmonster:
There is a quite a bit to study as the newest patron bellies up to the bar. A pale figureânervous, true, but with a sender side of confidence. Cruising, in all likelihood. But then again, that was one of the main purposes of the Devilâs Nest.
Kimbley is never one to starve for conversation, but as the night has been painfully slow compared to the Nestâs usual crowd, heâs pleased to have someone with which to entertain himself.
The drink is simple in make, and deft hands produce a drink in a matter of seconds, which he slides to the man with a bit of a flourish as he announces, quite teasingly, âSkipping straight to the hard stuff, hmm?â
Archer watches the bartender as he makes his drink. The man is slender, fairly handsome, and---despite the...interesting choice of haircut---way out of his league. He hopes this isnât a sign of what he can expect for the rest of the night---going home alone wasnât exactly what he had in mind.
Taking his whiskey in hand, Archer makes a self-depreciating little chuckle.
âI suppose so. Tell me---is it always so....deserted around here, this time of night?â

Tell my muse something that your muse would really like to do with them and my muse will react to that
(Hungering for it all) "Go fuck yourself."
Archer gives the homunculus a smug look. He had Greedâs skull, after all---he had no reason to be afraid.
âHow juvenille. Still mad over the thrashing I gave you?â
