Hatohara Robato 【鳩原呂羽人】

As a first post to this blog, let me introduce the main character, Hatohara Robato, or simply known as “Robo”. He is the eccentric main character of this new series by Fujimaki Tadatoshi -- a golf sports manga.

Unlike standardized naming conventions in Kuroko no Basket (e.g. Generation of Miracles - colors, Seirin second years - days of the week, Uncrowned Kings - plants and landforms), only a subtle naming convention was found -- and that is, birds.

Analyzing his name:

鳩　hato = dove 原　hara =  field, meadow, original 呂羽人　robato = merely a phonologically-similar term to robot, but: 呂　ro = spine, backbone 羽　ha (ba) = feathers 人　to = person Also note that 羽人 alonecan be pronounced as hato, which is, once again, a dove.

Protagonists with double of the same meaning isn’t uncommon, like the Uzumaki Naruto, whose name is just double-whirlwind.

Well, spoiling the other names that fall in the bird naming convention: Miura Youzan - hawk Suzaku Kyousuke - sparrow Karasuma Souta - crow

But let’s save that for separate posts.
