Week Two: COMPLETE I have finished week two of marathon training and feeling good! Not super happy about my pacing but I know I will improve with time. I did a 4 miler on the trail today and it started out awesome. Around mile 3 my sock and my shoe started rubbing and I couldn't concentrate on anything but that. I did a lot of walking the last mile but I still felt good when I was finished 🙌🏻. This week is 45 minutes on Tuesday and Thursday. Sunday is 3 miles, I'm going to work on pacing this week and definitely invest in new socks ! TTFN
Week Two : Frustrating Hello Tumblronis Sorry for the delayed posts even when I promised it wouldn't happen... The last time I posted was Day One of marathon training and it was successful. Actually last week as a whole was pretty great. If I wasn't running I did strength training and I worked out all the days I had planned. Then Sunday came and I had a shitty shitty run and my motivation was gone. Maybe it was because it was so stinking hot out, maybe I over did it in the other areas of my training, perhaps my body was tired. In all honesty though it was probably a combination of all of those things. As I was running I was second guessing myself and my thoughts included "This sucks" "How the hell am I supposed to run a marathon?" "I'm never going to be able to do this" On Monday I decided I was going to take a rest day and then it became a rest week ... My first run of the week was tonight -__- so not the look! BUT my run tonight was a victory! It was one of the best runs I had in a long time and when I was finished I had my motivation back. My thoughts tonight were "You can do this" "Just take your time you got this" and "Oh my god! I forgot about this song!" when Imma shine by Youngbloodz came on 8tracks. Honestly that song got me through the end of my run and it's safe to say it'll be going on my running playlist ! On the outro I'm glad my motivation is back and I'm ready to keep rolling with it ! Day One: COMPLETE
I woke up at 5am this morning and after a mental and physical push from my sister I actually got out of bed by 5:15. I was in the gym by 5:30 and running by 5:36, I had to find something to watch on TV obvi.
My run this morning started off slow. I hadn’t ran since two Saturday’s ago when I did my 5K fun run for cancer and I could tell. My legs were just not doing what my brain wanted and when my Nike app chimed that it took me 17 minutes to run a mile I was ready to throw in the towel all together.
I didn’t. Instead I pushed for the second half of my run and got my time to a little more reasonable 15 minute mile, still not my best but better than 17 minutes. I almost cried when I heard her come over my ear buds.
I decided then and there that my next run on Thursday would be outside. My pacing is extremely better when I’m outdoors I feel better and ultimately I enjoy the run more.
I set my intervals this morning for a 1:30 run / 1:00 walk and plan to adjust in two weeks. According to the picture above I burned 393 calories but my Nike app said 431 so I'm just going to go with the 431 because duh.
After I finished my run I stretched it out came home had a coffee and got ready for work. I worked 8-5 and 530-930 at my second job and then for some unknown reason thought it would be a good idea to do two a days. I went back to the gym and did a quick glute and hamstring workout.
Now as I lie in bed writing this post I can already tell tomorrow is going to be a sore one. But it hurts so good!
