an uncomfortable fact of life for people who dont remember what itâs like to be a minor: sometimes minors get crushes on adults. sometimes those crushes are sexual to some degree. this is just reality, this happens, and no amount of talking about how uncomfortable that is will change that it happens.
the thing you CAN change, though, is educating your fellow adults and telling them not to entertain or reciprocate crushes or attraction like that. teaching other adults that minors just cannot consent in the way we can, and to take advantage of a minorâs naivete, lower life experience and lower maturity level is objectively wrong. teach each other to stop making this fact into a joke of some kind. to stop sexualizing things typically associated with children and teenagers. to stop treating minors as sexually aware/autonomous beings that are âfair gameâ. to stop forcing minors to take responsibility for the fact that they may flirt with or pursue adults.
and to teach minors that no adult who would reciprocate these feelings is a safe adult.
