I thought you didn't care.
“I thought you didn’t care,” Adrien whispered fighting back the tears welling in his eyes.
“I’ve always cared about you Adrien,” Gabriel responded solemnly.
“Really? Because you haven’t give a shit about me for the past three years! You never noticed the bruises, you never noticed that I was gone almost every single night or that I was always tired. You didn’t notice because you didn’t want to notice. Because if you acknowledged what was happening that would mean you would have to actually start being a father to me instead of someone who just lets me live inside your house,” Adrien shot back biting down the rising bile in his throat. His hands shook as he came eye to eye with his father.
“I’m sorry you feel that way Adrien,” Gabriel said without a hint of emotion in his voice. “But it is not in the interest of the Agreste image to have my son gallivanting across the city as Chat Noir,” Gabriel explained. “I hope you can understand that.” With that Gabriel took Adrien’s ring and left the boy alone locking the door behind him. For the first time in years Adrien was truly alone. He didn’t have Plagg, as annoying as he was, to talk to. He couldn’t transform and go looking for Ladybug. Without his transformation he wasn’t even able to leave the confines of his room.
Adrien fell to his knees. He had never been so broken before.
And let’s top of this short writing session with some angst. I’ll finish up the rest later.
