July Corona Virus Update Blog

Can you believe it is July already!

Whatever happened after New Year 2020? 

My diary has never looked so empty, obviously, everything from all our social meetings to The Virgin London Marathon race has been postponed and all the cancellations of festivals around the world.

Who else watched Glastonbury 2020 over the weekend on TV?

Showing all the highlights from over the 50 years of this massive amazing festival. 

Glasto 2020 didn’t disappoint even in this strange time, highlights from The Killers, Muse, Rolling Stones to Adele, absolutely fantastic performances, made me feel I was part of the euphoric, sweaty awesome crowd again. 

Music has been the one reliable source throughout the lockdown that has personally given me a constant way to escape. Be it cooking in the kitchen with music playing or on a long marathon training run. We had a little more time to sit back and find the old tracks that meant something to us from years ago or to try out a completely new album, that you’ve been meaning to listen to but never had the time. Creating a personal playlist that we can listen to time and time again. 

I have a friend in Ukraine who came up with a brilliant idea during the lockdown. We both pick a song each week and on every Friday, we would swap our chosen song. The rule was to accept and listen to that song picked by the other person without stopping or judging. ‘Friday Swaps’ was born. Why don’t you try it with a friend? It has allowed me to stop for a few moments, to accept someone else's taste in music on songs that I wouldn't have normally wanted to hear or picked.

It was also quite easy to cut through tough root veg (turnip/swede) and hard cheese - considering the length of the blade (6” knife) I’ve found I’m using it for almost everything. My dad tried it and found it much easier to use than the ones he owns, because the knife is so much sharper and less pressure is needed on the handle to ensure an accurate cut.”
