a really important thing:
i know some of you may be thinking: what?!? but you’re married… to a dude… and have a kid…
i’ve been doing a lot of soul searching over the last year (thanks, return of saturn) and have been in therapy for a while now, figuring out who the hell i am and where the fuck i fit in.
i’ve always liked chicks, but i never realized that i was different - i just thought (yes, naively) that everyone felt this way. i thought for a while that i was bi, but in a recent epiphany, i realized that i just wasnt.
i realized that i love matthew so, so much, but not in the way other wives love their husbands (or any straight person loves or wants another straight person). and that i like and want women in ways that straight women dont.
this has been a really really difficult 6 months - i came out to matthew, we fought and cried and mourned and held each other and eventually accepted it. we became friends and then confidantes again.
i told my sister, some friends and finally today, my mother. tomorrow morning, i’m telling my dad. matthew is telling his parents in a week or so.
matthew and i are fine now - we both agree that auggie is the most important thing and that we’re gonna co-parent the shit out of him, but we also agree that our friendship is extremely important to each of us. he is one of the most important people in my life and i cant live it without him.
as of now, there’s no real timeline for anything to happen, but we’re slowly figuring out what we want to do. he doesnt know if he wants to sell the house or not and if we do sell it, we dont know when that will be. right now, we’re just taking our time and making sure that the decisions we make are the right ones for us.
so yeah. i know ive been absent with personal posts for awhile and this is a large part of the reason why i havent felt comfortable writing. i didnt want to portray a life i wasnt living. now that my life is going to be more congruent with whats in my head, i’ll be here writing lots more. welcome back to dork-mom central.
