I'm really sorry that someone attacked and offended you. Haters/antis are really horrible and don't know how to respect anyone. Thank you for sharing so much positivity and kind words for this fandom and the canon ship sessrin. Have a great week full of happiness and tranquility!
Thanks Anon! Sadly i find most antis rude, intrusive and on the verge of bullying. I’m not a fan of that and i will not tolerate such a thing on my tumblr. Not liking Sesshomaru and Rin together is fine per se, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and it’s fair to not like a couple in a manga/anime/movie/tv show for whatever reason (supposedely a valid one). But it’s not fair to attack people and sends them insults. If someone wants to talk it has to be done in a certain way, otherwise they may go. Rudeness wont be missed. Have a nice day!
Well, yashahime it's not really canon because rumiko herself said she considered sessh and rin relationship as parental, as a parent/child or parental guardian/child relationship. You don't go and agree to make your character a pedophile fucking the character you wrote to be like her daughter/protegee child
Oh Anon, you just got the WRONG Tumblr here, so let me answer right away... NO.
Rumiko Takahashi called Sesshomaru a “protector”. “Protector” is a person who protect someone he/she care about, it’s not a synonymous for “legal guardian” or “father”. I do not know what your first lenguage is, since obviously is not english, but really, try to learn the basics. Sesshomaru always protected Rin, he always cared for her, always let her free to make her own choices. Literally, his attitude was “Rin, you’re free to do as you wish. Off i go.” What kind of father does that??
And more over, in which point of the story Sesshomaru striked you to be the kind of demon who think “This little human girl was kind to me, so i will be kind to her and pretend to be her dad.” Do we look at the same Sesshomaru? This RELATIONSHIP is perfectly okay. (And canon, yep!) Rin was considered an adult in the feudal era, you do not have to be a history teacher to know that in ALL the world, centuries ago, girls were bound to marry at a very early stage in life. In this case Rin and Sesshomaru love each other. Good for them! I have also to remind you that we are talking about a demon living in a fantasy world build in feudal era, you can’t judge that like you would judge a movie set in 2021.
Learn to contextualize and to express your opionion in a civil manner, if you can’t speak in a normal and decent way without talking gibberish and cursing do not bother to write on my tumblr again. Bye.
i am sorry i had said that yashahime is not canon
Well, the “not canon” belief is not simple. Rumiko Takahashi was said to be part of the discussion of Yashahime basic storyline, she (and others memeber of the staff) were toying with the idea of a sequel since the end of Inuyasha.
Looking at things this way, the basic storyline (Sesshomaru having half demons daughters with Rin, Inuyasha and Kagome having a daughter, the new enemy and all the basic things we do not know yet) is canon. At the same time all the piecese are not directly written by Rumiko Takahashi, and it shows, she would have managed things in a different (and better) way.
So, i would say the story is canon but it’s really poorly written so far and this is not Takahashi’s fault. She’s said to check every episode but i doubt she has much power, sounds more like something they said to reassure fans. (And it didn’t even work.)
WHY YASHAHIME WRITERS HAVE TO DO BETTER
I don’t know where to start because there were so many problems in this anime. SO. MANY.
But let’s start with what was my hope. I wanted to like it. I really wanted to. I love Sesshomaru, love Sesshomaru and Rin, i liked the idea of this enemy from the past who seemed to be close to Tōga, i even liked the idea of the twins. I was open to anything, i was hopeful i gave them time and in the end i was disappointed. Let’s talk about the lack of character development first.
These girls DO NOT TALK.
How was this possible? They do not engage in an upfront confrontation about their parents (or aunt and uncle) once. They find out about Sesshomaru, they learn there’s a demon guy named Kirinmaru who is after them, Towa even saw Rin and asked herself if she was their mother but hey, LET’S NOT TALK ABOUT IT. For at least twenty and more episodes Towa’s biggest problem was Setsuna’s sleeping habit. Setsuna’s main line was “Towa you’re too naive and soft for this era” and Moroha is the little tag along, because she doesn’t want to be alone and want them to stick together because they are family, but guess what, they don’t talk about this either because Moroha needs money for a debt she didn’t even contract in the first place. AND MORE. They meet Kohaku and Kaede, they see them on regular basis and NOT ONCE on of them deemed necessary to simply say to these girls “we can talk about your parents if you want”. Do they even know that Moroha is Inuyasha and Kagome’s daughter? WHO KNOWS. Kaede spoke with Towa about Rin, without saying anything really significant to her and the discussion ended pretty quickly. This was one of the biggest wasted opportunity to create a memorable and significant discussion. Someone could say “Towa already have a dad” okay, let me see a discussion in which she tell “i don’t want to know about my parents because i already have a family and want to go back to them. Sis, what do you think? Moroha how do you feel?” Let them engage in a discussion! This is how we could have known them better. But nope. Let’s not. This was my first problem. Let’s now talk abou the second one. THE PLOT.
Why all these people are doing what they’re doing? I don’t know. They didn’t want us to get the point, probably because they found it a nice and misterious way of laiyng things out, except it ended out in a big mess. Kirinmaru, what does he wants? He wants the girls, for what? I know about the prophecy but it was also implied that he need the girls for something else, something related to the comet and the wheel of time? Who knows. Sesshomaru seems to have a plan in which both Jaken and Sess mom are covering for him, but what exactly is this plan? Setsuna died, was this part of the plan? Was it not? WHO KNOWS, we never hear Sess pov. Most of the character are bidimensional and that is a huge problem if the plot consist in a serie of endless question marks. I don’t want all the answers right away, but they needed to put things in order and lay out a base of solid informations as a start. After twentyfour episodes i don’t know what the point is. And the episodes... most of them are interchangeable. There’s no continuity for most of the season and we even got to see filler episodes. Why? For knowing the girls better? Because i know how i want to know them better, by watching them talk and create constructive discussions about their lives. These girls are fourteen not four. I can only hope for a more well constructed second season. They need to put some order in the ordeal they created and start to make every episode count. It’s like they confused the notion of mistery with the idea of “let’s give fans a bunch of confused half informations and never really talk about any of them. Genius.” Spoiler: it was not.
Top 5 Klaroline fanfictions you must read - Part 2
You may ask yourselves “why didn’t she do a top 10?” Because i thought it would have been too long. But, nevermind, it need to be done se yeah, let’s see. An important, fic i forgot in the first top 5 was The port of love, written by Lovely Vero. The story is set in a small village, Clovelly, in which Klaus is a fisherman with a secret and Caroline is the big town girl who come and get himm on his worst behavior. (Both have good reasons and worst behavior for him means great fic for us.) The plot is great, the entire story is written so so well and the couple dynamic is A+. The sequel of the story is up but it is unfinished. Luckily, after a period away from the fandom, the authoress came back with a new fic, so go check her page. Also, you can read TPOL with zero problem because it doesn’t end with a cliffhanger. - As someone mentioned before, Prowl, written by withfireandblood, should be here. At some point everyone must have read it because this fic has one of the best plot. When Klaus and his entire family are up to no good as a lifestyle and family business, you just want to read it. Especially when Caroline is the girl who got saved by Klaus and gets to discover a lot of untold truth. (The fiction is complete, ofc.) - Hellbound, written by Midnightangel30 is one of the first fic i ever read about KC. It’s dark, emotional and everything you want to read when big moral questions are on the line. And we all love a serial killer Klaus. Let’s no lie. - Blonde Ambition, written by ssklarolinewriters is so different that i fell in love instantly. First af all the story is set in New York during the roaring twenties (1925) and should be enough. Caroline is a vampire writer who get to meet the infamous Niklaus Mikaelson, that show her how magnificent is their endless life when you know how to live it. The ff is unfinished, sadly, but there are 42 chapters to read. I wouldn’t recomend it if the story, the characterization of the single characters and their relationships wouldn’t be A++. - And last, but not least: The devil in me, written by immortalpen. The story is set in the regency era (yeah, another great period if you ask me) and for that one i will copy the summary: It's 1809, the beginning of the season in London, the wealthy Pierce sisters, with their companion, Caroline Forbes, arrive from Virginia. Entering the aristocratic world of the ton, they soon meet a particular family, among them, the infamous, troubled playboy Niklaus. It’s Klaroline, it’s regency era, it’s playboy Klaus, it’s dark. Eerything you like. I may be up with a part 3 some time in the future, but the truth is... i’m not currently reading or re-reading Klaroline fanfictions at the moment because TO shitty finale just made me sad and angry on a high level. And i don’t want to be sad and angry right now. But, nonetheless, let’s remember all the good ff writers can give us!
Top 5 Klaroline fanfictions you must read
And re-read all over again. - Dungeons and its sequel Sanctuaries, written by Borzoi. (She’s the best. If only Julie Plec could read her stories, she would learn a lot on how to build a plot and do proper character development.)
- The traveler, written by Angelikah. The sequel is also up but it’s unfinished at the moment. Nonetheless go read that story and take a look at the author profile, you will find a lot of good klaroline fanfictions.
- The Madness Underneath, written by MarvelousKatie. If you like Elementary you will love this ff in which Klaus is shaped as Sherlock and Caroline as Joan Watson. Almost. But with nothing platonic in it. Super good.
- Two Lost Souls, written by Moultipass1. In this story both Klaus and Caroline have their emotions off, which is the best thing ever because who want to miss that? Plus, it is SO well written. It was an hard choise, there are so many more ff out there, but this are my fave pic at the moment.
Roswell Reboot?
Still unsure on why we are getting a Roswell reboot when the original cast of the show is still hella gorgeous. A sequel would have me hooked before it even started.
Everything is possible in people's mind.
Certainly, everything is possible in Plec's mind.
Before TO Season 5 even aired she declared multiple time that she had her own plans for Klaus and Caroline, and that she had those plans for quite a while. Apparently, she always knew. Apparently, everyone secretely shipped Klaroline. She had multiple conversation with the actors and the studio, she considered the "negativity" of the fandom (part of the fandom i would say. Not Everyone is abusive and not everyone is attaking her with insults, but at this point i assume it's even worse when some people argument their dissent with logic. When someone insult you, you block him or call him rude, but in front of logic i can only see trembling knees) anyway, she choose to go on because there was a story to be told, the missed opportunity caused by the spin-off.
Said so, everything was so alluring for the Klaroline fandom. She was answering questions on twitter, Jeff joined and he was supernice everytime, she declared that Klaus could have spent an eternity with Caroline and MORE IMPORTANT she declared that Caroline would have been able to move on from Stefan, because they married when she was very young and in love, but after that experience she could have experienced something different, more adult, and maybe with Klaus. The idea was there. She was planning the endgame. But more importantly, she shout it out to the fandom and of course, when a call like that is made, the fandom answer. The same fandom who spent years waiting and witnessed Stefan and Camille happen.
Then, inexplicably, the fall out. Julie Plec went all:
“You must have misunderstood my words fandom, because having Caroline globetrotting the world with Klaus would have been disrespectful to Stefan, her true love. She will love him forever, there was never place for Klaus in her heart, it was just a connection. She will be fine and on her merry way soon. And i must tell you, Klaus freed himself of the burden of an immortal life. Everyone knew he couldn't bare it anymore right? It was obvious, right?Oh wait, are you angry? Why? Don't be, i made it so we all can enjoy my new spin-off.”
I could say a couple of words on that.
She mislead an entire fandom, she changed her mind almost at the end of the writing process, she had no shame in lying and her interviews are nothing short that insulting for us and for the character of Caroline Forbes. Some writers of course joined the game, defending her, but this isn't surprising. THEY are a family. They work together every day, they can go back all together in Covington for Legacies. They are a tight group.WE fandom, we have our separate family. Because no, “we are all one big family” it's a big fat lie. It stopped to be true a long time ago.The truth is that when you lie, when you use, when you make fun of someone, that someone became angry pretty quickly.
And quoting Rebekah: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
After TO finale.
The Originals Ending
Sitting at my desk i'm thinking where to start talking about The Originals finale.
Because, you know, it's not just the finale, we have to look at the entire season, a season focused on the family and their bond, on Klaus and Elijah codependency, on Hope and her mistakes in attempt to do good and on Klaus dealing with it himself.
Since the start of the season we understood pretty quickly that wasn't a matter of villain but a matter of how these characters, these family, would have dealt with the consequence of loss and separation since we have known from some time that they do not do good when they are apart. But that was changing and the change was so welcome.
Elijah had a taste of freedom, but it wasn't 100% himself because a great part of him was missing. I'm honest, i had great expectations, but in the end he wasn't able to balance himself between the person he could have been and the old good Elijah who, apparently, had no meaning in living a life without his brother and Hayley. That's sad. And not in a good way because it shows us how zero progress he had made in this departement over the years.
Speaking of Klaus, he was so determined to protect his daughter, averyone was so hellbent on not making her an orphan that "we need to save Hope" almost got redundant to the point of being exhausting. But you know, when you think that it will be all worth it in the end, you endure evereything. I never thought "oooh, I'm gonna like every single thing that will happen on this show" no, that's never happened on any show, so you endure what you don't like because there are some signs that make you think these characters are growing. They will be able to live apart. I mean, they have more than one thousand freaking years. Grow up.
All the dots were indicating a sacrifice regarding Elijah, not for his family (Klaus, let's say it, it was just Klaus), not entirely at least, but i would have appreciated to see him moved by some selfish sentiment on wanting to die to be with Hayley.
Another thing, for the shipper, let's be real... Elijah is not were Hayley is. Klaus is not where Cami is. Klaus said it already to her when she died that they would never have gone to the same place after death.
So it would have been so good to see Elijah demanding his brother to help him tu fullfill his wish. Find a way in wich he could go where Hayley was and see Klaus helping him. Beacuse when you finally can stand onn your own it's that what you do. You let your brother free to go without you. You let your sister free to marry and became human. You let your daughter built a life for herself away from you (they caould have played one thousands scenarios). AND YOU LIVE TO SEE ALL OF IT AND RESPECT IT AND ENDURE IT.
It's too damn convenient to set anyone free because you know, I'm gonna die so you're free do to what you want. Okay. Great. How magnanimous of you.
The entire family was so potent. Legendary. So great. And the greatest af all was Niklaus Mikaelson, a one thousand years hybrid who was about to find his way and a companion.
Yeah, let's talk for a moment about Caroline Forbes, the one who has always endured the most but in the end "she is and always will be okay".
She's still in MF when no one is noticing she's not aging (so lucky!), she dresses herself in dark colors and live, or at least, spent most of her time in her ex dead husband house, because she can't go away and leave her daughters. SAD.
She and Klaus weren't just a cute potential couple, they completed each other as single persons, they were a rare pair in wich one was able to widen the vision of the other in different ways. They were one of i kind. But he is dead now and she will meet someone someday and live happily ever after. She better do it by the way, when every single person she is attached to is mortal. But you know, i don't want to think about it beacuse it make me sick and sad and not in a poethical and primal way.
I just see a giant waste, beacuse somehow, at one point, these idea of killing both brothers was put on the table way after the mid season was written. I felt it like a sudden change of mind that occured at a point in wich it didn't fit the finale but hey, WHO CARES, WE ARE GONNA BE BOLD. Oh, and poethic and primal.
Yeah, it didn't touched us that way. Sorry not really sorry.
I can't read things like "we didn't want to be influenced by ship because it's a family show" and then read JP saying that the shipper in herself felt she was about to disrespect Stefan Salvatore if Caroline ended with Klaus. (Because when you are about to write the end of KLAUS freaking MIKAELSON you do not think of Stefan Salvatore. And again, Caroline can endure anything but let's not touch Stefan's memory. You all people, bite your tongue. And by the way, IT WASN'T DISRESPECTFUL IN ANY WAY.)
An other thing that was shameful to read was that if Joseph Morgan and Daniel Gillies had shown enthusiasm for Legacies they may have survived the end of the show. Are you fo real? I mean, take this particular thing for yourself and say it to your close friends and no one else. Because it doesn't make a good impressione. Really. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.
I promise i'm almost done but i want to speak a moment about Jeff Lieber. He is a nice person, he was always polite in his answers and believe me, it's not given for someone to act like that during the entire process of writing, since the last episode aired. So i don't want to sound rude but i'm gonna say what i think. He was the last one to approach the show (honestly i don't know if he was the only one) but we know he was the one who wrote the questionable finale with Julie. Ehh... Let me say, i'm okay when you bring on the show a fresh point of view, i'm less okay when you write the end ONLY with the person with the fresh view. Because we were here for eight years waiting to see how this family would end, and EIGHT YEARS are a long time. We endured bad things, difficult things, questionable choices... but we were there till the end, no matter what and i was expecting that someone who was there from the start too (in the writers room) could approach the finale with that in mind. I'm not saying they had to fullfill all our wishes, that would have been impossible and frankly, fullfill all our wishes it's not their job. Their job was to consider the journey of these characters from day one, cosider their flaws and their grow and end it in a way that showed us all their progress made. While, in the end, i just saw codependency win, and nothing else.
I didn't want to be the one being hommaged. I wanted the characters to be. And it wasn't the case.
Drop the curtains, the show is over. What a relief, let's think about Legacies now.
That's how this finale came to me.
Lazy, not coherent with what I have seen previuosly and with the tragic and wrong idea that killing the main character of their show would have been a serious move. They wanted to leave everyone shook, amazed by the boldness of their decisions. Decisions they thought would put their show on a higher level. No. Your show doesn't gain point by the death of the main character. No, no one will take you more seriously. No, nothing like that will happen when people notice that this was a badly written end with a last minute change of mind.
Of course, that's only my humble opinion, and the opinion of some other people out there.
Peace.
Now i will go, pretending i never watched the finale and re-read Borzoi's fanfiction.
Because when fanfictions are better than the real ending, yeah, you have to start questioning yourself and not only throw excuses or blame things on bad fandoms etc... etc...
