Well, there’s nothing for him to have won. These bloodied antlers aren’t the result of a fight. See, deer lose their antlers and grow new ones every year. When they grow new antlers, the new antlers are covered in a fine, fuzzy skin called velvet. When the time comes for the antlers to stop growing and become hard and sharp, the velvet becomes very uncomfortable and the deer rub their antlers on rough surfaces like trees to scrape it off.

Because antler is bone, and because the velvet that helps them grow is very blood-rich, bucks who have recently shed their velvet look very gory! Not to worry though, this is all perfectly natural and soon the dead skin and blood will go away and leave behind a magnificent set of mature antlers, just in time for the autumn mating season.

Hey ladies! I'm been so crazy busy lately. I work about 55 hours a week, have a physiology class, and still have to find to sleep. It's been a little hectic. But my bank account and credit card bills look awesome. ;) Chris, his friend joe, and I want to be Luigi, Mario, and Princess Peach for Halloween. Apart from finding time to buy pieces for the costume, I can't really decide how I'm going to make it. MY BIRTHDAY IS IN A WEEK. I'm so excited. I'll be home for a day and Chris took off the weekend so we could spend it together. I've done a lot of fun stuff lately, even with working so much. Lila and I ran Color Me Rad, I've lost five pounds, Chris and I went to Uncle Johns cider mill and did a wine tasting, and last weekend we were bums and carved pumpkins. I started watching Orange is the New Black. Apart from it taking away my sleep time, I really like it! Izzy, check it out, Lila and violet, do not. Not appropriate. I love you all. <3 -- Chloe
