Considering how I have noticed how some questions can get minorly crazy, I have created a list of rules to ensure Rodolphus will enjoy his time here.

This is an ASK blog. Meaning you ask questions, in this case, about Rodolphus, and he will answer to the best of his ability. Of course, if you want to ask me a question, you can, just refer to me as Cedar, and use they/them pronouns.

I will try to answer your questions in a timely manner, but I am a human who has a life to live shockingly, so I can't promise I'll always be around to answer.

Ask really anything you want, but just for the sake of mine and Rodolphus' sanity do not send him or me a smut ask. He will not be pleased and neither of us will want the second hand embarrassment of answering it.

Please don't bring character hate here, or at least keep it to a minimum. I'm keeping my opinion neutral while answering asks, and I beg you do too.

Now, once again feel free to ask basically anything you want about Rodolphus, of course tread lightly on more sensitive topics. Or if you don't care about putting your life in danger, dive into it head first.

Hello Delphini. It is me, Rodolphus, or.. Uncle Rod as you so affectionately refer to me. I seem to have been caught in a bit of a peril. You see child, your Uncle Rabastian happens to be quite a fool for lack of a better term. He has gotten himself trapped in a rather weird frozen state after he was told by your mother to grab a very obviously cursed object without any previous preparations. While I would go free him myself, I have more important matters to attend to. Would you mind going and breaking him free of this frozen curse he's caught himself in? I will make sure he helps you next time you have an issue to handle if you do.

"Oh hey, Roddy." Delphini started, readjusting the book she had just been reading back into it's proper place in one of the library's expansive bookcases. She turned to him in full as he wrapped up his statement, crossing her arms and leaning a shoulder against the bookcase before raising a brow.

"That does sound like something Mum would do.. Did she intend for him to, for lack of a better word, freeze himself?" She questioned, flipping a handful of dark hair over her free shoulder.

"You do know I hate interrupting her fun, don't you?"

Rodolphus was silent for a moment, an unreadable expression on his face as he shifted his weight between his legs and crossed his arms.

"Yes, yes.. I am well aware of your opinion toward ruining her fun. I myself am not too thrilled to be asking you to." He responded, quieter then he meant to.

His gaze flickered up to Delphini for a moment, eyes reddish, not bloodshot but noticeable enough that it was visible to Delphini before the gaze averted to random objects around the room.

"But when her fun might cause my brother to lose a limb or two to frostbite, even if it wouldn't hold the man back too long, one has to bring an end to it." He added on, shrugging.

One of his hands came up to his hair, smoothing it back out of his face so he atleast appeared a bit more formal then before.

"But alas, Child, I wouldn't be asking you unless it was rather dire. As you're already aware of, I don't have the time to rescue my brother from his shenanigans. Not while there's business to be handled. But if it alleviates your worries some, your mother has left with your aunt for reasons I am yet to learn, therefore if Rabastian were to 'break free' while she were gone, nobody would need to know the truth..." He stated with ease, and a small smirk.

"...Of course if you're unwilling to help, I suppose it wouldn't be too dire for him to lose a limb, it's as I said, the loss wouldn't hold that man back nearly long enough. But it would be appreciated for it to not get to that point." He adds on, the smirk starting to resemble a bit of a smile, a nervous one at that.

Delphini rolled her eyes at his dramatics, uncrossing her arms to face him fully now. It was unfortunate that at full height she still stood about two feet below him.

"Listen Rod.." She started, doing her best to keep her growing annoyance at bay. "I'm sure Father would be less than thrilled at the prospect of one of his Death Eaters losing a limb due to frostbite so early into the autumn season." She pushed past him, stretching her arms over her head as she glided towards the door. "I'll see what I can do to help him out of this.. mess. But if he's not particularly agreeable.. Well.." She smiled devilishly. "Either way, he'll live won't he? Don't get your knickers in a knot over it.. hmm?" She sighed, snapping her fingers and beckoning the crystal door handle to open. Delphini lingered for a moment, half in the hallway and half in the library still.

"Oh, and please, Uncle Roddy." She spat over her shoulder, a dangerous tone taking to her voice. "Call me a child one more time.. You know how much I love it."

The door slammed shut behind her.

Rodolphus just merely rolled his eyes over the whole situation at hand, he had quite obviously annoyed the girl.

"Well excuse me for worrying about my brother, no matter how much of an idiot the man is." He mumbled under his breath, more sass then danger dripping from his voice before walking forward to sit down in a chair, fiddling with a ring momentarily.

In some ways, he wondered why he even bothered with anyone sometimes. Everyone got either annoyed far too quickly, or got worried about him for whatever damned reason they had.

'But alas..' He thought while getting up quickly, smoothing his hair back and glancing at the fire, 'I suppose I can't ever run off from these people.' No matter how disasterious and bothersome they were to his already stressed mindset on the regular.

He walked out of the room, closing the door quietly before stalking down the hall in the opposite direction Delphini would have taken, deciding he'd rather not cross paths with her, and the route he was taking would get him to the place he needed to be quicker.

Well.. Bellatrix. A shine to my life in basic terms. I love her dearly, and she loves me too! And Rabastian, he's always been a more.. Reckless person compared to me. He's usually more willing to "get his hands dirty" as some would put it. I do still love and care about him of course, I mean how could I not?? He's my younger brother for Merlin's sake!

And I thank you for the welcome, though I'm not quite sure how welcoming this app is judging by how you speak of it..

Cokeworth

I think we all are interested in Sev’s home. However, I’d like to come at it with a bit more or an English understanding. See, I think all this analysis depends on where in England Cokeworth actually is supposed to be. It’s the midlands, but where is the question.

I don’t think it’s supposed to be a major city in the midlands. In the 60s, when Sev was born, Birmingham (the biggest city in the midlands) was booming. They were the gun and jewelry hub. The average pay was higher than London. There was 1% unemployment and only went up to 2% on bad years. However, one part of the midlands that does fit with how Cokeworth is described is what is colloquially called the black country.

The black country got its name due to all the smoke coming from the ironworkings, glass factories, coking, steel mills, forges, and coal mining. It’s industrial, the most industrial place in England at one point. Unfortunately, coal mining declined in the 60s, and the last one closed in 1968. In the 70s and 80s so many factories closed that it’s unemployment shot up. On top of that it was known for its racism and general low tolerance of things. It was an incredibly poor area, and in the British class system, not a place to boast about coming from. The black country when it emerged was:

West Bromwich

Oldbury

Blackheath

Cradley Heath

Old Hill

Bilston

Dudley

Tipton

Wednesfield

Wednesbury

Walsall

My guess is JK Rowling’s Cokeworth would have been a part of the black country. This means Tobias Snape would have most likely had a hard labor job, and probably had been sacked several times be it for his work place cutting back, closing, or maybe even his behavior (though the latter is pure speculation, where as the other two have more weight historically). This area also had a really distinct accent. Which, I think is interesting with Severus. You can see he obviously does not have it still. I think the way he speaks is certainly a reflection on his feelings about where he grew up.

I generally find this really interesting. Growing up in Cokeworth definitely influenced Sev. I don’t think we realise the extent without taking into account where Cokeworth is supppsed to be, and what that means. Not just for his childhood, but for how he acts as an adult.

On Bellatrix and Rodolphus

Am I the only one who cannot see Bellatrix and Rodolphus in a loving relationship? At best I can see them as friends with a mutual goal of changing the Wizarding World. At worst I feel they’re in a toxic marriage they can’t get out of due to social convention. It’s totally cool if you ship them though.

//To be honest, I personally kind of headcanon Bellatrix being toxic and borderline abusive toward Rodolphus, and Rodolphus is usually so lost in his love for her that he never notices, but he isn't perfect either, even if he isn't as strong as her, he can be just as toxic. Tbh to me it's a fucked up relationship on both sides-//
