@rogeliohrdz15
with jw convention season being here (and by this i mean for me currently) anyone else remembering that very specific sound of like 1000 ppl turning their bibles to a specific verse all at once. and the specific way the microphone made whatever old dude talking echo in such a way. I've tried to explain those sounds to my friends but they simply do not Get It. i have forbidden knowledge they will never understand and that is so funny to me. very much wish i didn't have that knowledge but whatever lmao

Haven’t posted in a while but I was thinking,
Am I the only one a bit uncomfy with the cult games released recently? Like Cult of the Lamb or Honey I Joined a Cult?
Can’t help but think “yikes” and envy people who can play these games without being trigerred at all.
yeah no they bother me too. it gives me the same vibe as true crime. true crime used to be a genre that people could learn through documentaries about not just murders but also scams and whatnot. but it’s recently turned into this capitalistic cash cow where the facts are accurate and it’s all made for sensationalism.
and it’s like that for a lot of media that deals with cults. unless you’ve been in one, you can’t really imagine the mental and even physical toll it takes on a person. a lot of the wrong people consume this sort of stuff and instead of bringing “awareness” all it does is make cults look cool in a sense. they’ll never truly understand what it’s like to be in a cult. heck, someone might think it’s cool to start one. i feel like that’s why i get the “yikes” factor from games like those too.
Tw cults/abuse I guess
Didn’t like Cult of the Lamb but, Honey I Joined a Cult is clearly parodic and here to criticize cults. The whole leader is moronic and your goal is downright manipulate people so that they would get into your cult by proposing them pseudoscientific shit (which is factually how a lot of people end up being recruited into new age cults). It’s well made to understand how a cult functions and how it gets new people (preying on people who have issues/not much) and basically your goal is to milk out all of the money from them. It is an accurate portrayal of what a cult wants to do (gets money from vulnerable people falling into it). I don’t think it makes cults look cool, I think anyone playing it understands that you’re in the shoes of a money-hungry bastard. The intro itself is very clear that you are hurting people and abusing them with the power that you have over them, but you manage to escape the police.
I don’t think you need to play such a game to understand that cults are a high money game if you’re on the top of the hierarchy tho tbh. But yes, it might trigger someone who has been into a cult, just like any other content might trigger someone who has had a difficult history with it. It might also make someone realize that someone they know is being recruited through similar ways as the game does.

i need everyone to look at this picture of my cat in the hat my wife made him
my wife decided it was a good idea to do a sequel
the unintentional irony of her making a little hat out of a page of her "protecting children from neglect and abuse" chapter of her child welfare textbook is so good aofiejaoiwjfe as you can tell by the look on his little face, he didn't like this one much. (dw it was only for like 20 seconds while we got a picture and we gave him a lil treat after! he doesn't mind being handled at all and is now purring up a storm)
for anyone curious: iirc he has ~26 toes (which is, uh, more than the average cat lol)! also we think he's siamese mixed w a tabby, or perhaps just a lynx point siamese? either way he's a very handsome guy
Please wish my cat a happy 15th birthday!!!
She may be considered a senior citizen but she is still baby
That sweet face! Happy Birthday!
