Fleur chuckled. “No one can be the best at everything. Believe me, I have tried.” There was something amusing about Roger’s ego, almost endearing. It was as if he truly believed himself to be the most capable and talented. It was strange that the world hadn’t taken care of knock him off the high horse yet, but of course Fleur wasn’t going to be the one to do that, or even mention it. Being around him proved very popular around the students, and she was sure being with her produced the same effect for him. After all, who wouldn’t like to be seen walking next to the most beautiful girl at school? “Oui, overcome, that was the word I was looking for, merci beaucoup.”
“Gruesome and cruel. He should be able to just not compete. You know, spend all the tasks sitting and doing nothing. Purposefully end last.” She sighed. “You think so? Because I have been observing and those things don’t seem to move in patterns.” Fleur shook her head. “Not at all. Madame Maxime would never allow anything like that at the chateau.” At his next words, she rolled her eyes playfully. “Bien sûr, I meant here. Shall we sit?” Without really waiting for his answer, she took a seat on one of the pillows on the floor.
“I bet you are the best at everything. What is it you think you’re bad at? Maybe you are overlooking something which could mean you’re better? Or can improve enough to be considered adequate, that counts y’know.” He smiles, more to himself than at her when she confirms how correct he was in reading her intentions. He did believe that he was excellent at providing assistance to beautiful women. Actually --they may even need him. To explain things of course, he was after all a top student everyone could learn from his wisdom. “You’re so welcome, happy to help out.”
“I think he at least has to try at this point. What if its something so deadly that not competing will end in his death? I hope not but --you never know.” He smiles, sitting down next to her. “Yeah, not easy patterns but you can at least know the times one will be there most of the time. Like...the staircase closest to the Ravenclaw Common Room, always there at 5 in the afternoon, never there after 12. I have to take another route up after my patrols. --You know any constellations?”
