“Hey, everybody. We're meeting downstairs in an area that is slightly more secret, but to my understanding, not the most secret.”-Hero D'vyen
Campaign 4 Episode 28: Chasing Shadows
Look I understand that Occtis is not a Good Person™ at this point and his relationship with his family is veeeeery complicated and he needs to unpack all that before he can be changed in a better direction, and there's the whole being dead thing, but it irks me so bad that people expect the worst from him most of the time, even when he does nothing to warrant this kind of reaction. The conflict with Thaisha is juicy and i love it and i would love to see where it goes, but in other cases it just gets tiring sometimes.
The need to explain something traumatic that happened to you that you had no control over whatsoever con-stan-tly just to get a smidge of sympathy, or to simply get people off your throat is pure hell.
I don't think he should be coddled, and i can understand this kind of reaction, It's just not very nice seeing someone being treated unfairly because of something they cannot change yk?
i'm slightly behind on campaign four but something that has absolutely caught my eye is the internal tension at the seeker's table, especially surrounding occtis' existence. he's a reminder to julien of the tachonis' power and sadistic violence, he's an abomination to thaisha's order, he's something to vaelus which i haven't worked out yet.
what i have worked out is that occtis reads like an assault victim.
he was isolated from his party, violently and painfully murdered, had his heart carved from his chest, his heart was taken from him, by people close to him. of COURSE he's different now, of course he's off-putting and blunt, he's just had this massive and violent shift in his world that he's still figuring out! nothing tastes the same, he can't sleep, he feels cold when he should be warm, his whole perception of the world has been shifted against his will. none of it was his fault, none of it was his choice, and (while they're perfectly within their rights to have reservations) that key part seems to be forgotten at the table.
Siblings!
Lady Cordelia Einfasen: Hey, you know who else is in Dol Makjar and totally eligible right now? Ethrand Tachonis-
Ingrid:
"You had a rock thrown at your head by your brother? That's not nice."
but consider: if ingrid REALLY doesn’t want to marry ethrand tachonis, she could simply Kill Him With An Axe.
big sorcery ain’t got nothing on THE MIGHT OF GIANTS
(this message brought to you by the agenda of a. Kill Ethrand Tachonis So Hard It Shames His Ancestors and b. Let Ingrid Einfasen Throw Hands)
bolaire folding as soon as hero called him "uncle bolaire" is so fucking cute
Hero D'vyen: 18 years old: currently in the room where it happens, slating out the revolution on a chalkboard
Thimble & Occtis being inseparable and supportive
I am once again, super unwell.
That whole scene Kattigan had me singing “it’s just you and me and you and your friend STEVE” or however it goes.
my favorite part of critical role is when sam riegel says its riegeling time and riegels all over the place
i did not realize how hard the tone divergence went between different tables until now, why the fuck does the back half of this episode feel like the equivalent of a house of cards x muppets crossover
Edited to add: Since a lot of people are reblogging this original post, I'm adding the updated version I did that incorporates the intersex circle...
I know intersex people are still getting excluded in a lot of LGBTQIA+ spaces (let alone wider society) and I think it's crucial to show this group is included in the statement that we all deserve equal rights.

Much like Springfield before it, Seattle is one of the few major cities in the world with a monorail. That, combined with a more conventional light rail system, makes Seattle the rare U.S. city with two different types of train for public transportation. On Tuesday night, the rail system briefly had a third: a Mazda CX-5.
