there's something to be said about audiences buying into the lies that characters who are largely defined by being liars tell about themselves
i've noticed an interesting phenomenon of some people asserting that silver basically has no stable traits and therefore no interpretation is a mischaracterization. tbc i disagree vehemently but i wonder what could make somebody swing that far in that direction
as a bs fan and a pjo hater i have very deliberately been ignoring the pjo show's cast & crew list.
i don't caaaare how rudimentary or obvious it is when i rewatch wh s2 i'm gonna do that color analysis it's literally #ForMe #MyFun
what are the worse options. timothée chalamet jim hawkins.
it's important to spend the halfway through half man episode 6 funeral speech scene sobbing inconsolably so that you're woozy and fucked up for the rest of the episode. 👍 intended viewing experience
*loud incorrect buzzer noise*
so i just found out via someone having posted an excerpt from it that gdt wrote the introduction to "the new annotated f.rankenstein" published 2017
lowkey morbidly curious about the jim hawkins casting. with my luck it's gonna be tom holland
The first person I saw was you. When I broke out of my shell, to me, you were the mother bird.

so i'm in the tiny minority of people who do love gothic horror and didn't have misguided genre expectations for crimson peak And think crimson peak kind of sucks (writing-wise) but it only just struck me that crimson peak and el espinazo del diablo suck in the exact same way. the exact same way
i'm a fan of the idea of madi at first deciding to try again with silver and then their quote unquote marriage deteriorating slowly over the course of nearly a decade until she decides to fully cut him off (at least on the personal level - maybe they still have to meet for business dealings/politics which just makes it worse & harder)
perharps it's just timing but my brain is now making young man in america an eleanor song
“Writing is, rather, entering an immense cemetery where every tomb is waiting to be profaned. Writing is getting comfortable with everything that has already been written—great literature and commercial literature, if useful, the novel-essay and the screenplay—and in turn becoming, within the limits of one’s own dizzying, crowded individuality, something written. Writing is seizing everything that has already been written and gradually learning to spend that enormous fortune. (…) Thus in order to devote ourselves to literary work must we subscribe to the great scroll of writing? Yes. Writing inevitably has to reckon with other writing, and it’s from the terrain of the already written that the sentence might jump out that sets in motion a small admirable book or the great book that displays a trajectory and constructs a unique world of words, characters, and conflicts.”
— ELENA FERRANTE, from In the Margins: On the Pleasures of Reading and Writing, trans. Ann Goldstein.
