They look, for all the world, rather like the general aesthetic of the early 20th century, and anybody asked would call it worrying. Well, apart from the nice people at the old masonic lodge in Innsmouth, which has since been revived after nearly a century of disuse. But they don’t really seem to be bothered by much. So, What Is Aestus, Anyway?

Aestus is a dark fantasy/horror RP set in a world unlike most others, with unique races and creatures (we have no dragons here!) The world is in the middle of reshaping itself, after the gods almost annihilated everything a few hundred years ago. While magic does exist here, it is not as most people remember it- it is uncommon, respected and feared by many, understood by few and does not always function as it should. The Gods can and do occasionally interfere with mortals even now. Aestus is an extremely beautiful, but rather dangerous place- for not only is it home to numerous monstrous beasts, the humanoid denizens can be even more deadly than the fiendish creatures can. It is a world of intrigue and adventure, strange politics, dreams and nightmares, all rolled into one. A place where the lowliest slave may eventually become an emperor, or an empress could fall to peasant-hood. The world’s inhabitants do their best to live here, for better or worse. There are both wonderous and nightmarish discoveries to be made; fortunes can be won and lost in the blink of an eye. The world as a whole can be elevated to a wonderous utopia paradise, or the cruelest and most destitute wasteland, depending on what happens during the course of the RP. Aestus is our world- but more than that, it is our home.
