To my Puerto Rican Christians:

Why do we say “bendición” to our family? The response is always, “Dios te bendiga.” It’s something I’ve been raised to say as a way of expressing respect & love towards our fam, but I’m wondering if y’all know a deeper background to this.

I believe it’s a form of worship? “Dios te bendiga” translates to “God bless you” in English.
