Hi quick question. You are proposing that this blog is a novel concept because you reblog from the fandom tags. You do realize that’s what literally every single blog does, right? Right down to the ‘unique’ event tag? That’s….that’s exactly how tumblr basically functions? Assuming you are new around here, the sentiment is appreciated but nothing about this is unique as it is what we all already do and have been doing for years. 👀 Just relax and be one of us- no need for the pedestal. 💜
Oh, but nowhere did I propose that this was a unique concept. This is what is called a "source blog."
I've been on Tumblr far longer than I ever have been on Twitter and co-ran at least 10 source blogs in my day, the purpose of which was exactly the same as this blog's now: to be a space that collates and shares all new content in the tags, functioning as an archive rather than a personal blog.
So really, this isn't unique at all.
Of course individual users are free to reblog whatever content they like on their personal blogs, but what about creators whose work would otherwise be ignored or whose reach isn't quite as wide as bigger blogs'?
It's unreasonable to expect someone running a personal blog to share everything they see in the tags. What if that person doesn't like this trope or that ship or that concept? Why force them to reblog something they don't want to?
My opinion doesn't matter here. It's not my right to judge what people choose to create. And let me be honest: Clydephelia, Finnreylo, etc.? Those aren't really my ships. So I don't actively seek out content made for them, for my own consumption, as it were. But will I take the opportunity to promote them on this source blog? Of course.
There is no pedestal to be found here, really. No, actually scratch that. There is. But its only purpose is to amplify newer or lesser-known creators' voices, as well as the voices of creators who contribute to more niche ships. And doesn't everyone's voice deserve to be heard?
