Slowly, he turned to look over. I mean, sure, with all that had happened on tumblr he was a little apprehensive, but then again it was public knowledge that Karkat and Skelly lived together. Seeing the tall troll standing there, though.. He swallows hard, turning to face him completely - to be honest he was a little nervous all of a sudden, but he swallows it down and forces a scowl onto his features. Gamzee has a goddamn ring pop in his hands. This asshole...

Skelly’s lips pressed into a thin line, them getting frustrated with him again. “Things sure as fuck don’t seem fine to me. Nightmares are fine? Since when? They started again, didn’t they?” They shook their head, a little angry at themselves for all their inquiries. Surely he was stressed enough, and it was like he was being put on trial now.

“Look, nevermind. You just woke up. If you want to talk about it you don’t have to right now.” They let out a puff of air, beginning to feel exhausted already. Talking to him could be exhausting in itself, but that wasn’t why. The earth’s sun was going to be coming up in a few hours, and old habits died hard, regardless of the sun being nothing like Alternia’s. They could actually walk outside without worry of getting fried to a crisp.

Him having nightmares again worried them, though. Skelly on the other hand slept with ease these days, much to their surprise. No sopor slime, no recuperacoons anymore, yet sleep came to them easily. It wasn’t fair that Karkat was the one being stuck with this shit, while they slept like those gross pink human babies during the day.

Without thinking about it too much, they wound up joining him up against the headboard, pressing their back against it. They sniffled slightly, not because of being upset, but to get a better sense of where he was. Maybe they wound up sniffling because of getting ill? Fuck this planet. It was still hard to get used to. Sighing again for more reasons than they could count, they leaned into Karkat, nestling their head on his shoulder.

A grimace shows itself on his face for a brief moment when they point out that he basically just let them know that he was in fact having the nightmares again. Karkat slowly let himself relax again when Skelly gives him the option of not talking about them - even though it left an air of ‘we will have words about this’. 

He’d kept the fact that the nightmares returned to himself, knowing fully well that Skelly had been fine to sleep without the horrid visions since they arrived on this disgusting planet. He chalked his continued problem with them up to him being a mutant - that had to be the case.

Grey eyes scan over Skelly the moment they move next to him, and he opens his mouth to break the silence - but then they lean against him. Karkat’s breath hitches in his throat, and he looks away from them immediately. He grumbles a little under his breath for a few moments, taking a bit to adjust to the affection and in turn relax.

“You know...” His voice wavers a little, a softness that he will deny ever having been there taking the edge out of his voice. “We should play some games later. Or put on a movie. Show, even. When neither of us are about ready to pass out.”
