Operation Muted Persuasion. (Or how to disrupt troll farms on Twitter)
Some persuasion campaigns are mild, some are extreme.
I only care about the extreme ones - and they are often easy to neutralize.
A more simple way to introduce these persuasion campaigns is by calling them what they are; Operation MindFuck on the American population.
How do we know it is a persuasion campaign? One clue is this story is promoted by RT, Russia Today, a known propaganda source for the Kremlin.
The latest persuasion campaign is designed to discredit Mueller’s investigation and to suppress votes against Trump in the coming 2018 Election.
Searching Twitter for the terms WMD and Mueller, you will find some of the primary influencers of this operation. Some influencers may not be aware they are spreading an influence campaign, but many are operating troll farms continuing with the noise to signal operation.
After RT posts a piece of propaganda, Twitter responds in kind.
One has to feel empathy for @MichaelCohen212 - he said he had to protect his family - #RobertMueller threatening his family negates anything he says. Liar Mueller who testified to Existence of WMD to help start Iraqi war - Million plus died - many Americans #MuellerWitchHunt
The goal of this operation is to create uncertainty about any and all trusted sources or institutions so no one knows who or what to believe any more.
By attempting to discredit Mueller to those who tend to vote independent or progressive, they are linking Mueller’s testimony to Congress in 2003 regarding WMD in Iraq. This is meant to divide the anti-war crowd (largely democratic and progressive) to suppress their votes in the coming election.
When encountering this line of persuasion, it is remarkably simple to neutralize the conversation by agreeing with them that Mueller, a Republican, and the entire RNC, including FOX News, Hannity and Coulter all lied to the American people about WMD. And now, that very same RNC and FOX channel wants us to believe them again about Trump.
By agreeing with them about using WMD as the “card” of credibility, they actually give ammunition to the argument that their own voices cannot be trusted.
Remember, as always, have fun neutralizing persuasion campaigns on Twitter, make it fun and don’t respond in a toxic manner.
