HAPPY PUB DAY! My brand new cookbook, Did You Eat Yet?, is officially out TODAY and I’m filled with all kinds of emotions I never even knew I had! 🤪 Throughout my career, I’ve worked so hard to prove to the culinary world that I belong and even though I still don’t really feel like I fit in (anywhere, for that matter), I know that I’m always being myself. And everything I have achieved has been earned through hard work, perseverance, and by staying authentic no matter what people think or say. I don’t often talk about how many hurdles I’ve had to jump over throughout my career, whether it was as a model early on or now as a chef, but let’s just say I’ve dealt with my fair share of disappointments, rejection, and haters! But through it all, I absorb everything with a smile while trying my best to never pass any of that negativity onto others (because I know how it feels). This cookbook has been a lifelong dream of mine and I can’t believe it’s finally here in the world. I’m soooooooo incredibly proud of this project (and of myself) because I worked so freaking hard for it and I can proudly say that the final product is 100% ME! I’ve been able to experience A LOT of really cool things in my life but this really tops the list of my lifetime achievements. I really hope you all take a chance on me and pick up a copy of Did You Eat Yet?, because it’s more than just a cookbook. Whether you love to cook and eat, read stories, laugh, enjoy beautiful pictures, or just need a reminder that sometimes blood, sweat, and tears really do pay off (no matter how difficult things might seem), you are really going to love and connect with the pages in this book. Last night, Doug surprised me with a huge framed photo of the cover of my debut cookbook, Did You Eat Yet?. He said he wanted to commemorate this moment and also celebrate all the hard work, effort, and persistence I’ve put into my career over the years. I agree with him because I think it’s incredibly important to celebrate your successes along the way, both big and small (in fact, I went to the dentist on Friday and celebrated with banana pudding). This cookbook is definitely a big moment and has been years in the making… but not just the 2.5 years it took to make the actual book, but ALL the years that came before. Did You Eat Yet? not only has my most craveable recipes, but also stories that I hope everyone can relate to in one way or another. (Additionally, each recipe has its own photo so you know exactly what you’ll be making!) This book is a dream come true for me and I hope it brings you some good food (obviously!), good laughs (I’m actually super hilarious), and a little bit of joy to your life! I know my book isn’t out for three more months (March 14), but it’s definitely available for pre-order now (see link in bio)… and if you do, I promise there will be a fun goodie or two coming your way soon!
