they're co-WoLs! v'ryn is a summoner, he was the first of the two to be 'discovered' by the scions. rhaniver is a red mage and came along a bit later, after v'ryn already had a couple of primal kills under his belt. rhaniver definitely doesn't have an inferiority complex about it :)
