You know what’s significant in the start of Sasuke and Narutos friendship?
Sasuke made the first move. He chose to share his food with Naruto despite risking his own dreams. Sasuke was the one who moved to save Naruto, when the latter was too scared to move, at the risk of his own life. For all his attempts at trying to appear cold and aloft. Unfeeling and distant. He still couldn’t hide how at his core, he was still kind. He still cared. He still wanted to not be left alone. He was still good.
The end of the series, all Narutos efforts, were about pulling that truth to the surface. About having faith that this part of Sasuke still existed because he’d seen it. In a way no one really has. It’s what Sasuke means when he says Naruto knows his heart. Sasuke uses Naruto at the end of the series as a compass to help show him that good path that his trauma had made it so difficult for him to see
But deciding to take that path? Deciding to take that first step and have faith that what lies ahead is good? That’s all him. That’s all Sasuke. And that’s so very important.
