I hate, hate, hate the episode where Mitchum Huntzberger puts Rory down. The stuff he says to her is completely out of line for multiple reasons and it’s so sad that she let it get to her.

Number one, it was not constructive. Just telling someone they aren’t cut out for a job without offering them any reasons is illogical; there has to be a reason he thinks she’s unqualified.

Number two, she was an intern. She was not being employed by him, she was not writing for him. If he never saw her out in the field or if he never read her writing, then how could he adequately judge her?

Number three, Rory was good at her job. Watching the episodes where she worked clearly highlights her enthusiasm and how she goes above and beyond. She did the work she was assigned (yes, it was things like coffee runs and basic office jobs, but it was still part of her job) and she did it well and without complaints.

Number four, she was in position to speak up. During her internship, she was in no position to show off her journalistic skills. She was an intern for a reason. It was not her place to interrupt work meetings with her own opinion. It was not her place to write stories or interview people. She was an intern!

In conclusion, Mitchum only gave Rory harsh criticism in an attempt to crush her spirits to turn her away from working so that she would make a good wife for Logan.
