Unpopular opinion:

Idk if anyone will agree with me but whenever I see fanart of Armin with long hair in season 4, I always think: he would never do that.

These are my brief reasons.

Even though I think he would look good with it, it is not in his character. At the end of season 3 and towards the progression of season 4, Armin is traumatized from killing Erwin and Bertholdt. He has bad survivor's guilt. At the same time, he is finding out that humanity exists, and it is not as good as it seems. The whole world is against them, and Armin has to think about the war is about people, not titans. This is a lot of stress he is under.

To me cutting his hair signifies that his innocence is gone, and he will never get it back once seeing the outside world and living with his guilt. Even though it is just hair, it does represent a lot.

It also contracts him and Eren really well. When Eren is sad and feels he needs to be a leader, he grows his hair. When Armin is sad and wants to grow up, he cuts it.

Overall, I do not know why I think about this a lot, but I feel like when people say he would have long hair if he could, I disagree. I mean, he could have kept it long but decided not to. It was for a reason, and I feel even after the war is long gone, he will keep it short.

I think Armin would be perfect to play Nightwing/Dick Grayson’s role. In fact, in one of my MCL fanfics, it’s him and Candy being superheroes and Armin’s suit is inspired in Nightwing’s suit.
