Remembering Cory
Glee!
I have always been a fan of Glee, even thought I don’t like singing shows this one is great. When I hear that Cory Monteith died I was so sad and surprise. I think that many people felt sad and choked when he died. I get really sad when I hear that a celebrity has die even thought I don’t know them I feel like I do in some way because I see them all the time in movies or shows and Cory was not an exception. He was such a great actor. When I hear that Glee was going to do a tribute episode for his character Finn I knew I had to watch it.
Yesterday, Thursday was the episode dedicated to Finn title “The Quarterback”. I knew that I was going to cry trough the whole episode, and cry I did. The episode began in the auditorium with the Glee cast members singing “Seasons of Love” then it turns back to Kurt and him talking about Finn and how he is never going to stop missing him. The whole episode went about with everybody’s memories of Finn and how they each coped with his death differently. Most of the Glee cast members were there new and old.
I thought that this episode was so touching and emotional. It was done in a great way in which both Cory and Finn where represented. You were able to see the true emotions of everybody; you can see that their tears were real. Even Sue was crying and emitted that he loved Finn and that his death was unexpected.
Rachel did not show up until the last 20 minutes off the show, which was the only thing I dint like about the show. She shows up when everybody is gathering around in a growing memorial outside of Finn’s locker. Her performance of “Make you feel my Love” was great and her emotions were so real and touching. I do however feel like she had more history with Finn and that maybe she should have been in the tribute more, but for the time that she was there it was awesome especially when she said "He's my person" i feel like she was talking about Cory.
I really loved the whole episode and the way they said goodbye to Finn. They did not however mention how he dies in the show, but they dint need to mention it because his passing alone was great grief. In between the commercials there were messages for people that need help with substance abuse and at the end of the episode the cast did a PSA for SAMHSA (substance abuse and mental health services administration). Which they talked about addiction and how just by looking at Cory you wouldn’t think that he had a problem. Their message was that anybody could have an addiction that they just need support and help to be able to get away from it. It was a really nice PSA and the message was right on with the tribute.
I do wish that the tribute was longer but over all it was such an emotional episode. It really showed who Finn was as a character and who Cory was as a person. Hope you guys get a chance to watch the episode, make sure to have a box of tissues next to you, also make sure to watch Glee on Fox too, it's a good show.
