I’m Rose, though you can call me derivatives (Rosaline, Roselily, etc.) as well.
I use she/they and neopronouns (listed in my pronouns page)
My interests include but are not limited to: Hollow Knight and other games, Order of the Stick, Inanimate Insanity, Monkie Kid, Transformers Animated, Tales from the Stinky Dragon, and whatever my hyperfixation is this week.
No explicit asks, please! (I’m an adult but I don’t feel comfortable with it)
early early earlyyyyy af concept but hear me out: the player is a pacifist imp who, instead of killing crewmates, romances them! Or whatever their misguided concept of "romance" implies... It involves a lot more tentacles than it should.
I'm thinking maybe Green keeps killing crewmates in the background (in-game, the player doesn't know its them), and tries to frame you at every turn. You must "romance" all available crewmates, or, at the very least, have enough lovers on your side so you can get a tie or convince the others not to eject you.
Prove your innocence, gain your coworkers' trust and "romance" them so hard they'll never question anything you say ever again!
I thought of Red, Purple, Green and Orange to start out with, two crewmates and two imps. However it could potentially be the whole crew if the project ever comes to fruition! That'd be monumental task to do, so, for now, it's just these four.
What do y'all think? Any suggestions or ideas are much appreciated :D
Most of them live au but in the most ridiculous embarrassing way possible aka I've been extremely sick and so green among us must be sick too aka Gatorade au
Arbitrary code execution is typically achieved through one of two means:
1: writing invalid data or way, WAY more text/data in a field than is expected, overflowing the text field and into the RAM or, in some cases, even the system data (The 3DS had a lot of this. Play animal crossing with the wrong people and your system will actually brick itself thanks to the bulletin board.) More notable examples of this are using letters to write values to your wallet (Also in animal crossing, specifically the japanese version of wild world,) and the infamous "ENGAGE RIDLEY MOTHER FUCKER" password in Super Metroid that would brick your 3DS on the virtual console release.
Considering we've already had some hint of "data being written where it's not supposed to" in Chapter 3, with HERO_SWORD walking outside of the mantle game (Which should be "sandboxed" and self-contained) and able to affect things in the dark world to an extent (the "system data" in this case) it's possible that Susie will find some way to "overflow" something in the dark worlds (what else flows? water of course. what's heavily associated with water in this game? the depths.) in order to affect some other layer of deltarune's reality. She's very frequently shown to take a mile whenever the dark world gives her an inch. As for what exactly she's going to put an absurd amount of data into I have no idea.
Alternatively, ACE can be used to make a game READ data that it's not supposed to. This can, again, be ROM data (just not the part it's supposed to be,) or, more interestingly, the RAM of the game, which is flexible, and therefore controllable. Some examples are 8F and the Coin Case in Pokemon, and the Threed tent glitch in EarthBound. The former points the game to read the party as game logic, which can then be redirected to the bag for more control, causing the game to basically become a programming language in itself. (Seriously, the things people have done to this game are insane.) The latter can do anything from destroying your save to opening a debug menu you can use to edit whatever flags and party information you want.
I think this is the much more interesting possibility for a few reasons. One, in chapter 4 we've had a case of Susie reading something she "wasn't supposed to," that being one part of the prophecy we didn't see. That and Flowery giving her information about how the Dark World works on a technical level. Two, what is a piece of data the game has in it that goes completely unused, and is never pointed to ever by any process in the game? And what would happen if the game was forced to read said data? I'm referring of course to the "lost girl" in the game's code. I feel like Susie might be the one that ends up finding her.
i dunno though im just some gay autistic nerd who watched way too many videos on glitches in video games as a kid
So another thing I'm curious about (and ofc don't feel obligated to reply if you don't want to, I'm just throwing out ideas!): other than the obvious few, like Blue and Lime being blind and mute, and Cyan being blind, what are some of the other longterm effects that the zombie crew have to live with? Like my thought was initially mainly about Black. With their entire body having been destroyed, are any of their senses or abilities like sight or speech damaged or lost, too? And like, White, their body is completely split in two, which obviously would get in the way of stuff like. Walking. But what about eating, especially if any of their preexisting dietary needs due to their albinism carried over?
I think Black has issues with their sense of touch, they cant feel things beyond a numb sorta pain throughout their whole body They also struggle with keeping themself together, literally. When Imposters aren't hunting they'll retreat seamlessly into their skin, but with how messed up Black's body is their pieces are always coming apart, misaligning. Its extremely unpleasant, sensation wise and physiologically.
White gets off the easiest body horror wise. Though their halves wont stay together on their own they get Blue to surgically staple them together, and its fine as long as they're super careful (they are not nearly careful enough. Staples are not meant to be the sole load bearing force holding an entire body together)
As for whites dietary needs, I dont think Imposters can photosynthesize anyway, so all of their needs are a little different now. Not to say that it doesnt still effect them…I haven't gotten to posting about my Imposter HCs much, but Imposters don't really eat*. They can do it, they'll get nutrients from it, it tastes fine, but they don't get hungry. This is a consequence of their parasitic life cycle. When a Imposter hatches its one big meal is the host body it takes over. From there it's job is to clear out potential threats and then either lay eggs until the body has nothing else to give, or to protect existing eggs/ gather more bodies. Eating their kills would only take potential hosts away from the next generation. For White though, there is a phycological aspect. White has been hungry for basically their whole life, food is always near the top of their mind, and so this carries over. White is hungry. White is unused to consequences. White is very prone to suggestion.
*(Imposters lack of hunger is part of why MIRA values them so much as employees, they self select for diligence, self control and strict schedule keeping. If they aren't good at those things they'll accidentally starve themselves, problem solved. This is part of why Orange is so... like that.)
GO MY AMONGI!!! I have a normal amount of thoughts about them
Insane design detail/HC ramblings under the cut. Warning for spoilers and also being insanely long
First and foremost, what are Amongi? Evolved from carnivorous plants the majority of their body is covered in fuzzy stem material, their 'hair' and dewlap are composed of leaves, the softness and volume of which can be used as indicators of health and/or stress.
Amongi sustain themselves on a mixture of sunlight and solid foods (Light fixtures are all designed with these needs in mind, though the artificial sunlight on the skeld is not very high quality). Though their digestive systems favor meat they, similar to humans, eat all sorts of things they arent supposed to because its yummy
Green
Despite their size they are shockingly strong (working on a farm full time will do that). They could lift just about any other crewmate with ease
Worms get significantly bigger in the Among us universe, though they start small they can reach girths comparable to a fully grown pig. Bull riding rowdy worms is a somewhat common pass for the more adventurous folks in the area.
After kissing those worms they gained a fear of being secretly attracted to worms, because of this they preferred to only work with very large worms which were more dangerous, could fight Green back they tried anything, and always required several people to help wrangle.
Their fear of doing something bad on the farm is part of what spurred them to want to leave and become a captain
White
White has albinism! Historically, Amongi that lived in low light environments had to hunt more to supplement their food supply and had certain biological differences to compensate. Being incapable of photosynthesis activated these usually dormant genes, giving them sharper teeth, a larger than usual appetite, and occasional urges that some may label cannibalistic. Not that White would indulge in something like that, drinking blud sounds unsanitary as hell.
Whites condition would be a death sentence to most, mostly cause healthcare in this universe is terribleeeeee and so expensive. Having an exorbitantly rich family is the only reason they are still around today, and they have to supplement their diet constantly in order to keep it that way. Their parents owning a pharmaceutical company certainly doesn't hurt.
Their albinism also causes pretty bad vision problems which they are oddly resistant to others finding out about. This makes them even worse at putting names to faces, and look douchey by wearing sunglasses inside
Because their supplements are basically just sugar pills they often mix them with their wine and other food. Any other crewmate trying their food would be revolted and bewildered by how sweet everything is, including the savory foods.
Red
Spikey or thinning dewlaps are a sign of sustained stress, or sickness. Red got hit with they double whammy, long term health issues from the radiation + guilt stress from betraying Purple
Hatesssss the texture of their uniform so much and only wears the top half unless absolutely necessary. If you want Red outta the crocks you gotta beg tho, those babies are practically glued to their gross little claw feet
Adopted later in life and never fully bonded with their parents. Developed chronic lying as a way to get attention and never really grew out of it
Purple
Crunchy dewlap and poor health from the reactor meltdown. Despite being unemployable for a while their health and stress is actually still better than Red's. Only by a little tho.
Cut off contact with their family as soon as they were able to. They worked on planet odd jobs for a while and jumped at the opportunity to get off world with a MIRA internship
Blue
During certain times of year, or otherwise preparing to reproduce(for some this can be triggered by something as simple as spending too much time with a crush) Amongi will go into 'bloom', a state that emphasizes attractive features and produces pheromones to entice other Amongi. Blue has a rather mortifying condition that means they are in bloom year round, regardless of their preferences.
Worries about their condition influencing patients, especially patients who may be sick, drugged, or otherwise unsound of mind, means they are nearly obsessively cleaning pheromone pollen out of their fur. Being so well groomed unfortunately just adds to their attractiveness
Lime
Constantly mistaken for being waaaay older than they are cause of their terrible self care making them look crusty and decrepit.
Lowkey agoraphobic. Being able to spend all day for weeks on end in vents avoiding people and open spaces has very much exasperated the issue
They are probably the lightest member of the crew, a mixture of getting poor light in the vents and an aversion to leaving the vents to get food, especially when other people are in the cafeteria. When the kitchen staff notice they start conspicuously leaving food in/near the cafe vent
Objectum <3. Things cant betray you. They have crushes on a few of their tools and a particular fascination with the reactor
Orange
This is directly contradicted by canon but HC Orange was already an Imposter, and had been for several years before the Skeld incident. Their position meant they were already aware of Aliens when they got infected, and as a result were able to keep their head and not murder anyone. MIRA offered them a life of comfort beyond what would be attainable just following their instincts.
The real orange had a Fiancé, and a close relationship with their parents. After being infected they broke off their relationship and buried themself in their work. They still visit Orange's family on holidays, both parties are happy to see each other, but the relationship is strained now. Orange cant bare to see them the rest of the year.
They think a lot about the life Orange would have been living if they hadn't been infected. They'd be married by now. They'd still have a close relationship with their parents. Orange wanted kids once. That'll never have that, not in the same way at least. They don't know whether to consider Orange themself, or just a dead memory they're in charge of now. They can't tell if they're guilty or mourning. Mostly they try not to think about it.
Yellow
In a QPR with Brown
Has a history of having their intelligence/capabilities questioned because of their strabismus. Saw Brown being hired as a slight from management
Its kinda hard to tell but their hair is styled to look like flower from the back <3
Brown
In a QPR with Yellow
Scraped together money for law school with dreams of helping people, but only got a few semesters in before becoming disgusted with the whole system and quitting.
Between Fight or Flight they typically choose Freeze.
Cyan
Amongi are obligate carnivores, so while artificial/alternative meat does exist, Cyan's vegetarianism is quiet unusual and fringe
Cyan has so so sooo many piercings, mostly in places that cannot be mentioned. Their real tattoos are absolutely more intentional and interesting than generic flower patterns but I'm lazy and not figuring all that out.
They are always at least a little high. Usually more than a little. They hold their substances spectacularly
Black
Lowkey jealous and intimidated by the number of piercing and tattoos Cyan has.
As their 'hair' is just leaves getting a haircut is actually really painful and considered a body modification on par with getting a large tattoo
Since regular black ink shows up terribly on their skin and they gotta dish out for the expensive stuff anyway, they might as well go the whole nine yards. All their tattoos are done in glow in the dark ink.
