Covens
What is a coven?
A group of practitioners with like minded interests, ethics, and beliefs. They gather together to perform rituals, to connect, and to learn. They often celebrate sabbats and create their own traditions.
Is a coven right for you?
Be cautious if you choose to join a coven, there are good ones and there are bad ones out there!
A coven helps you to grow and advance spiritually. You get to meet others with similar beliefs. They perform formal, organized rituals together. A coven strives to become a kind and caring environment for people to feel safe in. They are a closely knit community full of people who support and help you on your path. Together they perform rituals, celebrate sabbats, and create their own traditions.
Benefits of a coven?
Spiritual Growth
Receive knowledge from others
Meet others with like paths
Support
Group rituals
Formal
Organized
Scheduled and consistent magickal practices
Signs of a bad coven:
They consistently insult and undermine other practitioners.
Believe their way is the only way
Go out of the way to harm others
If your gut tells you not to trust them, don’t.
Lots of drama and politics
Try to force their beliefs onto you
Threatens you
Demand that once you join their coven, you cannot leave it
Promises your power and supernatural abilities.
You get negative emotions when around them
Signs of a good coven:
Lots of support
Caring people
Respects all
Treats everyone equally and fairly
Values your opinions and beliefs
Honors your studies as well as others
Knowledgeable and understanding people
Leaves you feeling happy, empowered, and full of strength
Things you can do with your coven:
Keep a community grimoire that is printed off at the end of each year. Everyone gets a copy to keep.
Celebrate the Sabbats and Esabats together
Group rituals
Meet up together to study and expand your knowledge on witchcraft
Grow a community Coven Garden
Plan out and create a calendar or schedule for your coven
Meet under the stars to discuss astronomical correspondences
Go on hikes or spiritual retreats
Get together to do witchy crafts and DIY’s
Visit local cemeteries to leave offerings for the dead
May the moon light your path!

🌙 Things to research as a witch MASTERLIST
Always remember that each witch’s journey is a different one. You certainly do not have to research all of these in one go. Or all of it for that matter. Take your time and explore the possibilities of witchcraft, even if it’s one subject at a time. Witchcraft isnt strict on rules, find what suits you, there’s a place for everyone. And remember, always keep learning! :)
I tried to organize it somewhat (not really)

🔮 little witchy things to do 🔮
there’s not always time to do hour-long full-out rituals and spells, but that doesn’t mean you can’t do little witchy things in your day-to-day life!
- sleep with your curtains open to naturally wake yourself up with the dawn, and appreciate the new day
- do yoga (i like sun salutation yoga in the mornings)
- use a body wash that matches your intent for the day (eg. lavender if you shower at night, rose if you want to boost your love life etc.)
- sprinkle a watered down lavender spray on your blankets/pillows at night for relaxation and rest
- meditate
- you can find some very simple quick spells to do
- immerse yourself in nature
- moonbathe
- sunbathe
- listen to witchy music
- tidy (physically) and cleanse (energy) your room/house

- add to your book of shadows/grimoire
- even just flick through/read your book of shadows/grimoire
- if you’re on the bus, or waiting for someone or have a free moment, take a minute to ground yourself. concentrate on feeling the connection between you and your seat, your feet and the floor.
just remember that simply doing these does not make you any less of a witch.
you’re an important, busy person!

🌄Sunrise Witchcraft🌄
☀️sunrise is the best time for: healing, positivity, happiness, anti-anxiety/depression, spirituality, self care/love, air magic, cleansing, soft energy/ positive energy amplifier, truth spells, protection, and peace
☀️sunrise associations: citrine, lemon, peaches, ginger, orange, morning dew, orange calcite, coffee, bergamot, lime, earl grey, mint, sage, cinnamon, grapefruit, morning glory, marigold, saffron, calendula, daylily, daisy, black tea, and frankincense
☀️tips and things to try:
🌞yoga (especially sun salutations!)
🌻sunbathe in the sunrise to cleanse and charge with positive energy
🌞if you can’t wake up before/during sunrise, just leave your window blinds open to help you wake up naturally and/or to charge in the sunlight while you’re sleeping
🌻this is a great time for tea and coffee magic
🌞this is a great time to charge stones, especially sun-sensitive stones. (Here’s a post on solar stones)
🌻listen to and charge with soft or acoustic music
🌞 spend some time outside, take some deep breaths of fresh air, enjoy the birds chirping, flowers, dew, fog, and the beautiful colors in the sky that sunrise brings
🌻charge some lemon juice in the sunrise for extra boost of cleansing, positivity, and happiness properties (to make it stronger you can infuse it with mint or grapefruit, which both have similar properties and correspond with sunrise)
🌞if you’re comfortable with it, leave an offering out for sunrise deities and dawn sprites & other sun fae
🌻sunrise is a spiritual time, it’s the perfect time for meditation, exploring spirituality, astral travel, etc.
🌞here’s my post on how to connect to the elements in the morning/dawn
☀️My sunrise recipes:
🍋Sunrise tea: (has cleansing, happiness, positivity, energy boost, and protection properties)
1 part grapefruit (be careful if you’re on medication) optional
1 part sage or basil (whichever you prefer, both work)
1 part lemon
1 part orange
1 part mint
1 part hibiscus
🍊Sunrise oil/diffuser blend: (helps you connect to the sunrise, and it’s energy. It has positivity, happiness, anti-depression/anxiety, glamour, cleansing, and love properties)
Bergamot
Grapefruit
Rosemary
Lime
🍑Dawn faeries/spirtes:
☀️What they’re like- human looking, lots of pinks (their skin as well as ‘clothes’), they love dancing during sunrise, waking up the animals and plants sweetly, happy attitude, gentle, they love dew, pink clouds, they have a soft yet sparkly pink glow (it feels warm but not hot), and can bring about peaceful and positive feelings
☀️Offerings- rose quartz!!!, grapefruit, pink chyroprase, pink roses, peaches, peach roses, peony, geranium, hibiscus, marigold
☀️Deities associated with sunrise- Eos, Aurora, Hemera, Alectrona, Neaera, Mitra, Saranyu
Random Witchy Story Time
A few years ago I was at a museum that had some old grimoires and alchemy books on display and translations to the pages posted by them. My favorite grimoire page was a spell for rain where the person would go outside with a bucket of water and pour it onto the ground, then proceed to pretty much yell at the clouds about ‘see its not hard!’. To date that is my favorite rain spell I have ever seen.
🔮Witchy Tips🔮
✨Make runes by drawing on pennies in sharpie and sealing it with clear nailpolish, glaze, or hairspray
✨Make tarot cards by using playing cards
✨Make a palmistry hand by buy a cheap hand ring holder or a mannequin hand and paint it
✨When doing bath rituals, use coffee filters to place herbs in for an easy clean up
✨If you own a cat, look around and collect their whiskers! They can be used in spells and naturally shed off cats! *don’t clip or ‘trim’ your kitty’s whiskers plz!
✨Too low on energy to do kitchen witchcraft? That’s okay, before heating up a premade meal, take a look at the ingredients and see what corresponds with an intention you want to put in your meal
✨Thai takeouts usually have nice containers to store things!
✨Can’t have an open flame or maybe you’re afraid to catch things on fire? Buy fake candles and change the light bulb depending on the spell you’re doing! Or there are ones that coke with a remote where you can change the color automatically
✨When doing a spell, sit somewhere where the area will help give energy to the spell. Doing a sleep spell? Do the spell on your bed. A growth spell? Sit in the grass!
✨If you are constantly going through candles, take the opportunity to clean out the candle jar and use it for storing herbs and things
✨If you can’t burn sage to cleanse, you can make a simple cleansing spray with 4 oz of witch hazel, 6 drops of lavender essential oil and 6 drops of sweet orange essential oil. Add ingredients to a small spray bottle and shake shake shake before spraying
✨Make your own candles with crayons or light a crayon on fire
✨Instead of spending $$ on a crystal ball, use fire or water to scry
✨Spells may not always take affect right away, have patience!
✨Anything can be used in spells, its your personal correspondences and your intention
✨You don’t have to meditate, but if you’d like to, start small! Don’t try to meditate for an hour right away, start with 3 minutes and work your way up to 10 and so on
✨You don’t have to worship a god or goddess!
✨Familiars aren’t mandatory for spell work, don’t feel like you have to have one. Sometimes it takes time to develop a familiar
✨Sleep with your tarot under your bed so you get better readings with your deck
✨Talking or singing to your plants help them grow!
✨If you want your Grimoire/BoS to be artsy but you can’t draw, press plants in between the pages or use stickers that match the theme on each page
