What would the ncr education system be like? I figure community run, with towns getting tax breaks based on class size and curriculum; cities getting far more generous ones, small towns and villages maybe having to write to their local government just to set up a decent library.

In the ACTUAL Californian Republic, It would be government funded in that they would supply an amount of their own trained teachers to the area and fund them to build schools/curriculum as long as the area is populous enough, so within the city it would be pretty tightly NCR run with local teaching and work staff. There wouldn’t be the same kinda room there used to be because NCR has to work hard to get past wastie education thats still more or less in place.Lots of NCR propaganda and the army would make visits to either mega problem areas or areas that are super rich per capita. Otherwise, the middle schools just have their funded teacher and supervisor, everyone else gets a lot more free roam. Their schools over there also GREATLY mimic prewar schools, some are even ACTUAL prewar schools. No one’s happy about this honestly. The classrooms are actually much larger but thats because there are fewer schools and most kids gotta walk ages to school in the hellish sun. Luckily classes are after midday or at night to prevent heatstroke, don’t run long and don’t run at all in summer (not even summer school). Richer schools have a more prewar schedule because they have actual air conditioning and nurse staff.

The further out areas, yeah I’d say you’re spot on. They’re only just newly part of the republic so they’re working towards integrating rather than reinforcement so they can’t exactly push their way in too much. They’d still have NCR funded workers, but far less and theyre more for show? And the NCR would probably send more people for any kind of building they do to reinforce good relations etc...

As far out as the Mojave, they would fund missionaries but the FoA gives them trouble and the Public there is actually very happy with the FoA. So they mostly stopped by courier time because its a waste of resources at the moment with the war and all. If the NCR gets their way and doesn't destroy the microfaction, they’d absorb FoA into their education expansion schemes probably.

That's more regional than solid fact, and seeing as everyone's mutated by airborne contaminant (not so much radiation though it occurs). height differences would be pronounced though, depending on region and other factors. If they're from a region where being tall is important to survival or they have the resources to continue being larger, theyll be larger (ie the west or east coast). Alaska kids would probably be squatter but wider, Mexico kids would probably shorter etc

but overall even with mutagens, ghouls wouldn't notice for a few more centuries (partly because it's subtle, partly because it's actually pretty slow before it's noticeable). SoSu WOULD notice, because they and father would actually be shorter than synths and wasties (but not institute who r too squishy to have the FEV mutate them too much because it responds to stress)

Catching the expression, a curious one of his own followed. She didn’t seem like the type to judge, but he imagined there was a certain protective instinct that came when something of importance was ‘defiled’.

‘Impossible implies cheating, improbable is another thing. Should I investigate or simply leave this discrepancy?’ She didn’t have anything worth gambling with anyway, it was an empty joke. She looked at them and shrugged, what she could remember anyway.

‘From what I remember, I would say so. I actually have quite a few actual undamaged stories.’ She snorted, ‘Yours are probably more interesting considering your brain chemistry is not full of lead.’

Even if he told her the truth, she probably wouldn’t believe him. He wouldn’t have believed him either, if it wasn’t there happening to him. His travels left him more worldly, but nothing was more shocking than the discovery that these random powers out of a comic were a part of something way bigger than some knuckle head conman who stood around too much toxic waste.

He snorted, “Me? Interesting. The only thing of interest about me is how I’ve gotten along without at least a single beating. Luck, and being handsome doesn’t hurt.”

A laugh escaped his lips, and he quirked a brow, “No, but I don’t think it’s much better… Less lead, but more RADs.”

'More of what?' The look on her post conveyed she wasn't really playing along, just confused. More unanswered questions or gambling? Not very appealing honestly.

She rocked on her heels, her pad balanced against her stomach. 'Helps to not look weak, confidence helps you get by. No one attacks anyone they see as their equal or higher, they want something easy over fair.' There was a small drawing of a dog with a spiked collar underneath.

'Being pretty does not help.' But she smiled anyway. 'Radiation sickness? Are you unwell? I can treat radiation sickness.'

A painfully long process, she wasn't feeling up for it but she still didn't want to leave them suffering.
