BIOGRAPHY
TRIGGER WARNING: DEATH, MURDER
Annabelle Rose Halstead never wanted to be what her family wanted her to be. There were high expectations from a young age for her to follow in her families' footsteps. You will be a Hunter. A great one. Or when you're attacked, you'll die. And it'll only be you to blame because you didn't try hard enough.
Trying to be a good example for her little sister, and to try to live up to the standards her older brother placed in front of her, she threw herself into the training. She pretended to like it -- to take initiative and do exactly as expected. The pressure of being the best was exhausting and the yearning for a different life was constant. She wanted normalcy. She wanted to just be human. Rose wanted her brain to be the reason she was special, not her fighting and hunting skills.
Nonetheless, she still wanted to make her parents proud. She wanted her siblings to be proud of her, too. There were times when she felt like hunting was the only similarity she had with her brother in sister. That if she wasn't participating in the family business, she'd completely lose them.
The family dynamic changed, however, when she was twenty-three. In between attending college -- something she insisted to her parents that she wanted to do -- she was still participating in hunts. One night, however, her parents insisted she stay home with her little sister. They said that they didn't need her. That Reid and the two of them were enough.
But it hadn't been enough. Her parents arrived home late -- later than usual -- and her mother was crying. Her father emotionless, explaining to her and Annalise that their brother was dead. Annabelle didn't believe them. She screamed at them to go back and find him. To bring him home. This only led into more hysterics from her mother.
While her father tried to stop her, she used every ounce of her strength and training to get away from him. She ran out the front door and used her tracking skills to try to find Reid. She didn't care what was in the shadows. She didn't care if something tried to take her, too. Annabelle managed to find his blood, remnents of his clothing, but she couldn't find him.
All of her training, all of her dedication, had been for nothing.
After that, her parents insisted her and her sister cease their training. Annabelle didn't mind. In fact, she took it in stride. She finished her Bachelor's and then got her Master's, focusing solely on alchemy and the forgotten arts. Not only that, but she insisted to be called by her middle name: Rose. A new start. A new life. One where she wasn't known as Annabelle Halstead.
Her brother's dead was a significant blow to her family. She didn't blame her parents for what happened, but her little sister did. This caused them to grow apart -- a distance to be put between them until it felt to Rose as if she couldn't get passed it. Rose tried for years with her sister, along with her parents, to feel whole again.
Until she found out that her brother wasn't actually dead. Not in the truest sense of the word. During the hunting trip where their parents had told the sisters that their brother had died -- they had lied. Instead, he'd been taken and turned into a Vampire.
Reuniting with him was like a dream come true -- until the weight of all of the stress bore down on her like bricks. When she needed him most, Reid was not there. Rose struggled for months to maintain some semblance of normalcy, up until she was told that their parents were dead. And not only that, but by the hands of her siblings.
Annabelle is rarely speaking to her siblings as of late. She is, however, much more mentally stable than she has been in months. She's continuing as her job as a Professor and she has reintegrated into the Brotherhood.
HEADCANONS
As hard as Rose tried to be what her parents wanted her to be, she never felt good enough to be a hunter. Maybe it was because the whole of her heart was never in it, but sometimes she wished it would have been. Lately, she is doing her best after joining again to find some form of peace within herself.
Her confidence in her skills took a hit after she was told her brother was dead. He was supposed to be the best. She looked up to him. And if he couldn't survive, then how could she?
There was a time when she went no contact with her family. For about a year after Reid's "death." She moved out and stayed at the University while in college.
Rose tried to convince her parents to not name her little sister Annalise. At the age of five, she didn't like it. She felt it was too close to her own name. But ultimately, it wasn't her decision. This is partly why she goes by her middle name.
Growing up, Reid was her everything. Yes, she loved her little sister, but she loved having an older brother. She wanted to do everything with him and at times, would cry when she was told she wasn't old enough to participate in everything he could.
WANTED CONNECTIONS
YOU LOOK FAMILIAR ; This person knows Annabelle from her younger days as a hunter. It's been ten years since she's been on a hunt, and they've offered to take her out again.
I CARED, ONCE ; An ex boyfriend or girlfriend. They were together for about a year before they broke up. The reason is still UTP. Rose had a tendency to hide her past life from this person, showing them only the happy and good side to her. She also never introduced them to her parents or little sister.
WORK HARD, PLAY HARDER? ; Not only are they close at work, but they are also close outside of it. Rose doesn't let loose all that often, but she feels comfortable around this friend and is more likely to have some fun if they are around.
