There were certain things that Dex was instructed to deal with when no one else was around. He never left behind anything that could be traced, but just in the event of a slip up, it was better that Harvey not be anywhere near it. Evidently, somehow, one of those slip-ups had happened.
It took absolutely all the self control he could gather the instant Rose spoke not to kill her. He still had the gun in his hand. The same metal drain pipe that had just assisted him in doing the job she’d happened upon would be more than enough to get a bullet right between her eyes, too. Dex’s finger’s flexed, his grip tightening so much his knuckles went white. “The only trick you need right now is getting out of here.”
Rose’s eye flicked towards the drain pipe in his hand then back up towards his face. “I wouldn’t be so sure that’s going to help you out here.” Between her healing factor and her minor precognitive abilities, Rose wasn’t going to have a problem getting out of this situation, she was sure.
As with most things, Rose wasn’t taking anything seriously, especially not the threat against her life. If she got freaked out every time she was threatened, she would never get anything done. Her arrogance was sure to bite her in the ass one of these days, though, and while she was fairly certain that today was not that day, she really couldn’t be all that sure. She didn’t place much value on her own life, anyway.
