Back To The Basics
It’s been a while since you’ve heard from me, and I just wanted to check in! It’s a new year, and whether you’ve set goals for yourself or not- I hope you’re happy with the person you’ve become.
Since you’ve last heard from me, I’ve been working at different jobs, and on different projects (I look forward to sharing!) also, learning more about myself on this journey of life! Y’all know I don’t write unless I have a message to share- so I’ll leave you with this poem I wrote to someone years ago, but I’ll read It for myself today.
I recently had 2 health scares in less than a month which makes me come back to my core values and why I started a healthier journey for myself a few years ago. Sometimes in life, you learn from experience, sometimes you learn from other people’s examples.
My life changed my freshman year of high school when I decided to eat better, and do better for myself. If you know me personally, you know I’m an independent, ambitious, healthy woman. It wasn’t until I was on my way to New York one night that I realized I had to reevaluate my life decisions/habits in order to get anywhere in life. I was alone (but never really alone, because my angels protect & guide me every step of the way) doing something I’ve done hundreds or times-waiting to get to NY Penn station on the train. Talking about the details of it is a trigger, but I was soon on my way to the Emergency Room because I passed out for the first time in my life. They said I was dehydrated, so I started to get back to drinking a gallon of water daily to get back to being me. Last week, I was running errands and felt the same way I did the first time I ended up in the ER. Luckily I was with my love, who also was aware I wasn’t being myself. Well, I passed out again & was drained completely. I’m the type of person that is open to what life has to offer daily, and I’m confident in what the day has to offer because I know my health is on track. This has humbled me more than anything in my life because I’m not in control.
I trust that something good will come from this, but I also am ok with not being ok sometimes.
Here I am, writing something that has been on my mind and heart to share, sipping on my banana, papaya smoothie (with coconut water, turmeric, and cinnamon)) for healing and delicious reasons. I hope to shine my light with you, which means I get to shine the light within myself first.
I’m learning to:
Fall back from the things that have already served their purpose.
Clean, cleanse, and set intentions in your space.
Know your strengths, and honor them.
Log off social media until you can log back into yourself.
Fear and Faith don’t live in the same breath.
Breathe, it’s all working out for you.
Rest, recharge, recover.
Trust your wings and soar!
I hope you’re living a healthier life and shining your light!
Peace & Love,
Ro
