as selfish as she was biased, it was difficult for frida to admit there was any child cuter than her own--the moment brynden grew out of his newborn knee-looking phase and her own blues, there was nothing but love towards the boy, and praise never was too much. but the targaryen princess was something else: she had gotten her mother’s silky dark hair and her doe eyes, but they shone like amethysts, brighter when a shriek left her lips at the way lady caron swiped a card and placed it on the table. ❝ i don’t believe she has been exposed to this before us, leona. ❞ the riverwoman speaks, failing to hide her amusement as brynden reaches forward to take a card himself. ❝ do you think treason will be on store for us for teaching the next queen how to gamble? ❞ a stretch, of course, but the humor was in there (also possibly on the second glass of wine she had)--with them sitting on the king’s high table, with a nurse or two hounding them, it was unlikely anyone mattered. it may be the princess’ birthday, but she was not where all the attention lied, frida felt right to assume.
