Holidays meant parties, and any party meant it was going to be a good night for business where Natalie’s.. side job was concerned. However, she was also smart, and she wasn’t about to show up at the high school, handing drugs out to the partygoers. Instead, she’d stocked up, and planned to wait until tomorrow, where she’d hit up the party going on at one of the girls’ houses, and just have a low-key night by herself tonight. Nat could enjoy a house party for more than just selling, but at nineteen years old, she knew she’d feel out of place at a high school party, so while the rest of the town was out having fun, she was perfectly content to sit on her balcony with her dogs, smoking a bowl and enjoying the crisp night air. So lost in staring up at the stars and allowing a familiar feeling of relaxation to wash over her, she didn’t even hear the door opening on Rosemary’s balcony. It was her dog that alerted her, jumping up at the divide and barking. “Leo, hush,” she laughed softly, glancing over at the other girl from her seat. “Sorry. He thinks he’s a guard dog or something.”
“You have a good night,” Rosemary said happily, a fake smile plastered on her face as she watched two young girls dressed up as superheroes waddle onto the next door to ask for more candy. She shut the door behind herself, the smile that was once there immediately disappearing. Most people knew Rosemary as the kind of girl who was always happy. Maybe that was true a year ago, but now it felt as if her whole world went crashing right at her feet. After turning off the light to her living room in hopes of no more trick or treaters, she decided that getting some fresh air might do her some good. Most times, she’d like sitting out on her balcony and just read a nice book. Lately, it was hard to even pick up a book. Rosemary was all out of sorts, and she was hoping that she’d find something that would help. Anything. As soon as she shut the balcony door, she heard a dog barking and immediately recognized it as Natalie’s dog, who’s name was apparently Leo. She chuckled, quirking an eyebrow at the dog who seemed to think she was some sort of threat. She got comfortable in her chair and started making noises towards the dog, letting Leo know that she was friendly. “It’s more than fine. I don’t think you’ll ever find me complaining about dogs.” She paused, though, chewing on her bottom lip as she thought of something to say -- conversations weren’t her strongest suit as of late. “Though, my sister is the animal geek. She’s obsessed. Wants to be a veterinarian and everything.”
