While they were housemates,  they had never been friends. Greta wasn’t close to many people, but likewise she rarely had a problem with anyone. Evan Rosier had never liked her, due to her bloodstatus and had always treated her like she was less than. “It’s not like there’s anyone in this time that I could call anyways. So don’t worry.”

Evan always wondered if it was a ploy of hers, always being so polite even when he didn’t bother. It had to be a way of saving face; no one could be that unaffected. He rolled his eyes at her. “I suppose not. After all, who would want to hear from you?”

“Tell me about it,” he said, voice somewhat of a murmur. Peter wanted to get away as soon as possible, but didn’t want to make that all too obvious. No need to raise any suspicions, no need to have Evan Rosier think that he had a reason to be skittish around him. “Cheers, appreciate that. It’s been a bit hard, to get out and about, with so many people … wanting to rip me apart. And yeah, yeah, I guess I did, didn’t I?” A pause. “Was sorry to hear about how you end up. Must be fuckin’ strange, learning that.” Not as strange as what Peter learned about his future, surely, but still — he’d rather talk about Evan Rosier’s tragic death than the blood on his future hands.

Evan resisted the urge to hex Peter; he knew the rat was not exactly the epitome of social decorum. How could they be when they spent all their time around street urchins? Besides, he had no intention of staying dead. “It’s unimportant because I am not letting it happen.” Not again. And he wasn’t going to end up in Azkaban either, they were going to win when he got back if he had any say about it. Or else, he would establish a life here. Point was, he was going to live. “And you are going to assist me. After all, aren’t we friends now?” He smiled slightly, though it did not reach his eyes.

Rabastan exhaled sharply through his nose. Evan had always been such a hot-head. The time jump had clearly only exasperated things. “You’re not dead now, are you?” Rab snapped. He was trying to stay calm, he was. Evan was making it difficult. “You’re not the only one whose life didn’t turn out they way they thought it would, Rosier.”

As hard as he’d tried to avoid learning of his fate, Rabastan still discovered the sort of mess he’d followed his brother into. The death of the Lestrange family’s respectability lay on both of them. Rab shuddered to think of all those years that future version of himself was forced to live in Azkaban for his failure. 

“We can’t change what’s happened, Evan…. But surely we can do better here and now.”

Evan wondered if he should consider a new best friend, especially now that he had new options. Clearly, his current model left a lot to be desired. Though, he supposed ending up in Azkaban was far worse than death. Wasn’t that why he had fought so hard to not get caught, so his children wouldn’t have to visit him there?

“At least Ivy is still alive,” he said. Without him. It was better than if she’d gone with him. He stood up. Fuck it, he was not going to take this without a fight. “Whenever we go back, we are changing this. I’ll be damned if I let them do this to us.” He sighed. “Meanwhile, let’s try to get me back into my own manor shall we? Half-bloods though they are, I would like to see my grandchildren.”

Greta was still trying to wrap her head around the fact that she was in the future now. And with the future came a lot of changes, she just wasn’t sure which ones were good and which were bad yet. “All of this new technology is very overwhelming. So you’re trying to see me you can see someone’s face when you call them now?”

Evan hadn’t spoken to Greta for a moment; after all, what did he have to do with a filthy mudblood? They were in the same house, but that was hardly an unbreakable bond. “Admittedly, impressive. But I feel awful for whoever would have to see your face.”

jamie would deny that his lack of sight in one eye hampered him in any way til his dying breath. he hadn’t told anyone just how hard it was for him to adjust. he didn’t want anyone to worry about him. he could do that by himself. it was better than being totally blind anyway. but the truth was getting used to only have one source of visual input was hard. everything looked just ever so slightly different to him now. although he supposed that the difference had been present long enough that it was just a new normal. either way that plus the fact that jamie had never been very good with faces to begin with is probably what had lead to his current situation. “so you’re telling me that you aren’t rowan.” he said it slowly as if he couldn’t quite believe it.

Evan had expected a lot of things to occur when he came to this time period. Having a near identical grandson he was constantly mistaken for was not one of them. Of course, his family situation was complicated to say the least, even without that. “I am definitely not. I am his... grandfather though.” That felt incredibly weird to say. Especially since his grandson was hardly fond of him as it was. “What family do you belong to?” He wondered if he was going to have to have another talk with a Rosier about inappropriate company.

“Can’t say I’m surprised,” Marlene muttered, before smiling tightly at him. “I guess tales of your ‘winning personality’ didn’t survive any longer than you did.” Still longer than you, though, McKinnon — longer than James Lily Benjy Dorcas Edgar Fabian Gideon — stop. Clearing her throat, she added, casually, “I heard Moody got you in the end —- always a solid, he is. Good at taking out the trash.”

Evan wanted to wipe the look off her face. It was a bit of a tragedy really. She had picked the wrong side, betraying them all. Unfortunately, he had apparently not had much time to rejoice in it. He had almost made it, might have had he refused to go to Azkaban. He should have run off with his family long before then. Maybe had he been alive during the second war, things would have been different. “At least my family is still around to keep my legacy alive. I suppose we got some good work done before the end.”

“That’s like … so adorable, that you let her pick your clothes. I’ll keep my criticisms to myself then, unless I bump into her — though there are so many people around these days, that that seems unlikely.” A smile was still on her lips, her voice upbeat and kind — she felt dismissed, wished to swallow all the words she’d spoken, wished to disappear, but she’d not show it, would appear like a kind stranger until she couldn’t do it any more. “It must be so confusing, to suddenly be in the future. I mean, I think it’s all so confusing, and I haven’t even moved time period!”

Evan wished he could see that type of situation happen. Blood would be shed and it would not be his wife’s. It might add a bit of entertainment to this otherwise dull era he was trapped in. Though, he was amazed by the amount of new spells he had to play with. “Yes, it is certainly... interesting.” He looked at his surroundings. Curious. A few weeks and he still could not adjust to the hectic nature. “What family do you belong to?”

Dae raises an eyebrow, he’s starting to see an air of superiority surrounding the stranger and if his walls weren’t high enough, they go up higher. “Shouldn’t have asked for my opinion then.” The way this man spoke was all too familiar, in a way that made Dae nauseous. “Why would I know who you are?”

“You should. The name’s Rosier. Evan Rosier.” He hoped his name had some power in this world still, even if he was gone. After all, he was still dangerous. “...You’re not one of my children’s children are you?” Just his look Edeline would have kids and not tell him.

Peter looked at Evan for a moment, unsure if he’d been addressed — he was trying to blend into the background, with his hood up and shoulders high and head bowed, not trying to mingle in conversation with former colleague Death Eaters, and yet: here he was. “Yeah, me neither. Kind of makes sense, I suppose.”

“Well, I suppose cat is out of the bag now. Or rat in this case I suppose. Not sure how we are going to fix this little situation.” He sighed, shaking his hair. “Don’t worry. I will make sure they don’t rip you apart. After all, you got the job done, didn’t you?” As a former Hufflepuff, Evan appreciated loyalty. At least when it was directed towards him.

“Oh darling,” Ivy let out a long, sad sigh. She draped her arms around her husband’s shoulders and rested her head on him. What a dreadful place this was. Or, well, rather, what a dreadful time. “I just want to go home. Please, can we go home now?”

Evan ran his fingers through her hair. She was so cute. Everyone always joked they acted too much like newlyweds. Though, apparently, that was all he would ever have with her. He pushed the thought aside. “I would take us back if I could my love. But until then, how about we go shopping in Diagon Alley? That way, you can tell all the shop owners why their taste is appalling. And maybe we can pick something up for the children.” Never mind that their children were currently older than them. “Did you see what that woman is dressing Roderick in? Clearly, he needs your assistance.”

Penny looked at the other with a puzzled expression. “Fix what?,” she asked, wondering if he meant the entire timeclash ordeal or something simpler. ( It had to be something simpler, right — why would someone ask her to fix something so disastrous? That was way out of her league. ) “Oh — do you want me to help you fix your outfit? I really dig 80s fashion, but you could use a bit of an upgrade, I suppose. This whole ordeal has led to a lot of fashion disasters, but I don’t mind it. Quite nice to see old clothing styles back in action.”

Evan was starting to regret his decision to pick up a conversation with this strangely dressed person. He also resented the implication; he always dressed well. "Sorry, the only person allowed to dress me is my wife. Also, I’m rather more focused on getting back to my time period. Everything is so... loud now.” Also, the amount of dirty blood on the streets was nauseating. However, apparently saying those things could get you into hot water these days. How unfortunate.

He hadn’t even caught the guy’s name. But with the very probably increase in Death Eaters, Dae almost didn’t want to know his name. Seeing the wizarding world in peace had given Dae a little break from his overwhelming feelings of impending doom and finding a Death Eater would just ruin it. “It’s a *rift* in time. No one really understands the concept, let alone how the fuck this happened. I’m not a quantum physicist, I don’t have any ideas.” 

Evan stared at the stranger for a moment. He looked familiar; was he a classmate or something. However, the gibberish he was saying made him think he was a blood traitor, or worse, a mudblood. “I don’t appreciate your tone.” His voice dropped into a whisper. “Do you know who I am?”

Evan sneered as he recognized the familiar face of his cousin Andromeda. He hadn’t thought much about her until she married a mudblood; then, suddenly, he had way too many thoughts about her and how she betrayed their entire family with her decision. He wondered if in his absence, she had been the corrupting influence that lead to his son’s poor choices. Nonchalantly, he placed himself next to her. “Fancy seeing you here. Come alone?”
