“That’s a lie, you had million reasons to think that, but you decided not to and that’s the difference that matters.” the boy said, knowing his bad reputation. But that was just another reason he liked Rosie so much. She didn’t care. From the moment they met, she didn’t care about rumours or about Ryan trying to prove her that he’s the bad guy. She just got to know him, in her own way. She saw that he’s not so bad and at one moment, neither one of them knew when exactly they became closer than they ever thought that they will be. And that was the best moment of his life. “You really think that? That I’m one of the greatest guys in the world? ” he asked, not beliving that someone could ever see him this way. When Rosie involved his bad opinion about himself, he looked away and bit nervously his lip, remembering all the crappy things he’s done in his life. As soon as she said that he worthed a lot to her, he looked at Rosie, not knowing what to say. “And what is that supposed to mean?” he knew exactly what it meant, but it was kind of too hard to believe it. It was too good. He looked down, when a stupid smile appeared on his face. He was acting like some in love teenager and it was absurd, but it felt so good. The next moment he moved his eyes, so they can meet hers and said, almost whispered, actually “I will be. And I really hope this won’t be followed by a slap, but…” he took a deep breath “I need to…” he leaned over and kissed her, and maybe it was stupid maybe he was crazy to confess to his best friend that he’s in love with her, and maybe it was crazy to kiss her 5 minutes after that, but he didn’t care anymore. Life was too damn short to waste any more time. And there was one thing he knew, and it was that If you love someone, you tell them. Even if you’re scared that it’s not the right thing. Even if you’re scared that it’ll cause problems. Even if you’re scared that it will burn your life to the ground, you say it, and you say it loud and you go from there.
A soft laugh escaped Rosie’s lips. Of course Ryan wasn’t going to take the compliment just like that. Though she guessed there was some truth in what he was saying. People were quick to judge him, especially considering all the stories that were passed around about his past. Rosie knew how that felt like. Back in high school, she was girl that was as cold as stone. No one understood why she hated her life as much. She was as much as a misfit as he used to be. Maybe that’s why Rosie has always liked his company -- the constant unharmful bickering and banter made her forget about all of it. “Yeah, I do believe it. I mean, I obviously don’t know a whole lot of guys...” she tried to joke to make their conversation a bit lighter. “Just, take my word for it, okay? And accept the compliment.” Her hand was resting on his cheek now, and her legs almost turned weak when he looked away from her and bit his lip. She had never seen him this vulnerable before. Usually he was the person that had his quick remarks ready to fire back, but now it seemed like he didn’t quite know what to say or do next. “It means what it means,” she shrugged, as her thumb traced his cheekbone. “You matter to me. You’re the kind of person I want to keep around for a long time.” Everything she said had one simple meaning. She really liked him. Her heart started racing as it looked like Ryan was making his next movie, and when he said he hoped she wasn’t going to slap him, a frown appeared on Rosie’s face. “Slap you? Why would I feel the need to slap you at this--” Before she could finish her sentence, Ryan put his lips against her. “Oh,” she whispered under her breath, as everything started to become clear. It must’ve really been ages since she kissed someone, because she really didn’t see this one coming. She quickly closed her eyes and moved her hands to his neck, as she sighed happily and returned his kiss, her lips parting just slightly. After seconds, she couldn’t remember what they had been talking about just before, or what she was planning to do. Nothing was more important than this. Damn, she couldn’t believe she was having the thoughts those cheesy people in rom coms had. The feeling of floating on air was pretty new for Rosie, but she didn’t hate it, that was for sure.
