Hey there, just wondering if you know if there's any kind of written Yautja language out there, like their alphabet. I'm getting a tattoo of a name, but I want it in Yautja, and not the dashes that always appear on their wrist devices, like an actual written language.
[Apologies that this is so late, but I’m 99% sure you’re the person who I talked to via messaging on my main blog about this topic.]
So for everyone else here is a little bit about the Yautja language outside of the classic:
To my knowledge there’s no ‘OFFICIAL’ written characters outside of the dashes everyone knows about. However there are alphabets and untranslated characters floating around. For example these ones that can be found on various sites and forums as they’re two I’ve seen make rounds:
Aside from that there are completely FAN MADE Alphabets as well that use characters completely different that these.
If anyone knows if there is an Official set of characters outside the standard please let me know/correct me. I’d love to know.
As far as I can tell, there’s no official alphabet. The dash based ‘alphabet’ based on the countdown isn’t letters, it’s most probably numbers. I just don’t think there’s ever been a canonical alphabet.
(From an old thread on one of the boards. This discussion has been going on for ages- there were a few in the old Hunter’s Lair forum but they all got nerfed with the board change.)
That’s interesting. I’ve seen versions of the dash based ‘alphabet’ with an included 0-9 section like so:
But yeah. Whether it’s numbers, letters, etc. I’m not sure if they’ve officially confirmed. I know based on books or comics whether the dashes are letters or not is up for debate. Though I think some less than credible ‘official’ things have coded the dashes to English letters. However a direct translation realistically is infinitesimal in odds. Look how many different characters there are just on Earth that don’t directly translate.
I don’t NEED a relationship, I WANT one . Like I’m not looking for no one to complete me or make me whole or whatever . I just wanna fall deeply and unbelievably in love with someone . I want someone to never stop choosing me and actually try with me . I want affection and intimacy with someone I trust with my whole heart . I wanna experience something real for once .

I'm sorry if you've been asked this before, but how do you shade to make things look so shiny looking, like the teeth of your characters? Your art is amazing and a really big inspiration to me and I want to see my art become better.
Thank you! Honestly, I don’t put much thought in it. I use highlights pretty sparingly so that the ones I do use stand out more.
For teeth, I usually use one thin line for the highlight. The closer the tooth is to the light source, the brighter I make it. For paintings, I try to make a subtle gradient from the gum to the bottom of the tooth, shade it like above, and add the highlight last if I want it to look shiny.
For fur, I either use thin, jagged lines or two short ones. I only highlight fur when it’s directly in the light.
