@rougarude-blog
I realized I haven’t done any Pixel Dailies this year, so when I saw the #palmtree theme today, I decided to finish my Retropolis triptych.
It all started with the scuba diving theme back in August 2016, and I added the coral reef during this year’s Octobit. The palm beach scene comes from the island where SpaceX is taking into orbit and completes the set.
Expect these soon to be seen on Retropolis city’s tourism page.
p.s. I never thought I’d be using pure grey to draw either wet sand or shallow water, but I think it works quite well in this case. Just another indicator how colors are relative and next to the warm sand, the grey appears closer to blue.
The road is long, we carry on

Can you make a quick tutorial about drawing feet and hands?
i usually have two approaches: ‘outlining’ and ‘simple ‘construction’
most of the time i won’t even draw all individual fingers but just merge them together or try simplifying by breaking the hand/foot down into shapes, that will make it easier to ‘construct’ and pose.
unless you want to draw stuff for feet/hand fetishists or have a very ‘realistic’ style you don’t need to over do it with the detail.
of course the easiest way is to use reference, just look at your own hand and feet…unless you don’t have any, but there’s google. I don’t know any ‘specific’ books on that but there is ‘’Drawing Dynamic Hands by Burne Hogarth‘’ you could check out.

MUTANT HUNTER: THE SLICKS (2012) by Michael Whelan, cover for the book by Stephen R. Cox
I found not only the cover illustration for THE SLICKS in the studio but also a few studies as well. Here we get a good shot of the protagonist Leon Miller in a figure study and in a detail from the finished painting.
Functioning aircraft are rare in the world of Mutant Hunter. The Screamer was originally built as a weapons platform that could also haul troops and cargo. The author imagined it as a cross between a V-22 and an A-10.
Interesting, the aircraft was added in digitally?
I must have been on autopilot when I posted this yesterday. I didn’t notice the Screamer wasn’t in the final painting! Checking with Michael for further details.
Yes, Michael confirmed that he added it digitally. He had this to say:
“Yeah. I never was happy about my visualization of the thing, even to this day. I felt I had let Steve Cox down, though he professed to like it well enough.”

shading metal
lighting faces
that is all for today, do stay tuned as i am always hunting for cool shit like this
guys stop reblogging this these are cheats the CIA will come for you
So uhhhhhh
I’ve been itching to do this so I can socialize with more devs but
Would any fellow devs (or anyone with an original work/characters) want to do an art trade with someone who’s art is admittedly pretty amateurish? You draw my kids and I draw yours sort of thing? :D;;;
Examples of my art can be found in these tags. Like I said, art isn’t a relative strength of mine, but I thought it might be a good “just for fun” thing anyway anyway :> Hit me up if you’re interested!!
Putting this here too \o/
Facial expressions!
Just when you thought you knew everything about boobs… NSFW?
My darling friend Chizzi mentioned that there are a lot of booby tutorials out there are just predrawn boobs with the artist going HEY LOOK! HERE ARE SOME BOOBS! but not many that actually talk about the anatomical structure, and where to put the lines. I was like, “Hey, I can probably whip something up.“ And so I spent my thanksgiving making this.
Proportions probably aren’t exact, but I did my best. I also didn’t explore the various body types, but perhaps I could do a separate tutorial someday. I hope you find this tutorial useful :)
