Collection of all my horses over my playthroughs of RDR2. Horses will be added as I play, mostly so I can keep track of everyone. Story and stranger spoilers if anyone cares abt that anymore.
Name: Astraeus
Name Origin: In Greek mythology, Astraeus is the Titan God of dusk, and is associated with the winds.
Breed: Iron Grey Roan Ardennes
Desc: The horse that comes with the pre-order copy on xbox. Bought him during the mission with Hosea after selling the Shire, and used him until chap 4 when I bought Asteria. There is a bug that turns this breed into a standard Tennessee when stabled, which happened once I tried to ride him afterwards, and I had to sell him :/
Name: Asteria
Name Origin: In Greek mythology, Asteria is the Titan Goddess of nocturnal oracles and falling stars.
Breed: Black Arabian
Desc: The second horse of my first playthrough. I bought her from the blackwater stables at the beginning of chap 4, but slowed down a bit while playing bc I felt like I was nearing the end of the game so I ended up using her as much, if not more than Astreus. She was the horse I lost during the last mission as Arthur and it killed me.
Name: Buell
Name Origin: Named by Hamish Sinclair after his commander in the army.
Breed: Cremello Gold Dutch Warmblood
Desc: Kept him after the Veteran missions, the third and final horse obtained during my first playthrough as Arthur.
Name: Ananke
Name Origin: Greek mythology, Ananke is the personification of inevitability, compulsion, and necessity.
Breed: Chocolate Roan Dutch Warmblood
Desc: First horse kept as John on my first playthrough, since I sold the one he came with and had been eyeing the breed as Arthur too. Haven’t used her much yet, since I’ve finished the epilogue and am on to my second playthrough.
Name: Nemesis
Name Origin: In Greek mythology, Nemesis is the Goddess of revenge and retribution.
Breed: Brindle Thoroughbred
Desc: Another horse I was thinking about during the first playthrough with Arthur. Thought I would have to wait until chap 3 to buy her, which would have been a while since I don’t plan on leaving horseshoe anytime soon, but I guess we were meant to be. I was ambushed by O’Driscolls while delivering wood to that guy building his house, and guess who one of them was riding! I killed him, took her, stabled her and returned for the cart. She was my main girl before getting the next two.
Name: Hephaestus
Name Origin: Hephaestus is the Greek God of fire, metalworking, stone masonry, and forges.
Breed: Tiger Striped Bay Mustang
Desc: One of two horses I kept while trying out the red barn glitch (now patched). He’s become my hunting buddy due to being less easily spooked and originally having more health than the others.
Name: Aegaeon
Name Origin: Greek mythology, “Aigaion (Aegaeon) was the god of the storms of the Aegean Sea ...his name also means "Stormy One"”
Breed: Silver Dapple Pinto Missouri Fox Trotter
Desc: The horse I was originally trying to get from the red barn glitch. Imo he’s one of the prettiest horses in the game, especially in snowy areas.
Name: Ichor
Name Origin: Essentially the blood of the Gods. I’m pretty sure it’s actually a gold colour, but I wanted a blood related name bc he’s red while still sticking to the Greek theme.
Breed: Dark Bay Andalusian
Desc: Picked him up from the Strawberry stables after starting the time traveller mission. The pic doesn’t show it well but I bought him bc he’s a very vibrant red.

Name Origin: Play on Dogmeat from F4, but also bc there was a big Thing years ago about some shops around here selling horse meat.
Breed: Palomino Morgan
Desc: One of the horses you’re given the option of stealing during one of the first RDO missions. Sold pretty quickly to make room for Eos, so I don’t have any better pics of him.
Name: Eos
Name Origin: Greek mythology, Eos is the Titan Goddess of the dawn.
Breed: Chestnut Pinto Kentucky Saddler
Desc: Bought as a temporary horse ‘til I could replace her. She’s been shot more times than I can count.
Name: King
Name Origin: N/A
Breed: Light Grey Shire
Desc: Definitely a keeper. Ranking up’s a bitch in this game so I won’t be able to get a decent horse for a while, but I love Shires and bigger breeds in general so I don’t mind too much. I love him.
