They are on the move. We have this one right where we need him. All wrapped up! I just wonder how many we roll up inside and never even know it.
While the rain has made wheat harvest a little long and difficult, it has been great on pastures and hay meadows. Today is the first day to use the new cutter and we are thankful for it. Life is good and God is better!
My heart swells with joy as I watch my Grandchildren hide God’s word in their hearts. As we watch our country teeter totter on the brink of destruction, it brings comfort to know that the treasures we lay up for ourselves in heaven can never be destroyed or taken from us. God is good!
After 25 years of dedicated service to us all it was time to say goodbye to “Honeypot”. She was a great horse with a big motor and a kind heart. Her bragging rights include three trips to the NFR in Vegas in 2004, 2005, and 2006. She carried some great cowboys to some big wins in the PRCA, and in the Wildfire “Open to the world”ropings. Later in life she was the best babysitter you could ask for as she allowed several little girls and boys to proudly ride her gathering cattle and trotting through Playday events. For the past four years we have had to keep her injected just so she could mosey around the pasture and enjoy life, but finally today even that was not enough to keep her comfortable. When Allie went to get her for her routine maintenance she didn’t even want to get up, and when she did it was hard on her. It was hard but we groomed her, hugged her and let her go. She has a place in our hearts forever.
Kids did good today. I love the new sign but mostly I love the respect and joy we all share as a family
A fun day bringing this tractor back to the farm. It is a 1949 John Deere B that my Uncle Bob bought new. It was the first tractor I drove. The engine and transmission have been overhauled and completely restored with original parts. It is now parade ready for my children and grandchildren to enjoy. I just wonder who was the most proud. Uncle Bob the day he brought it home, or me today, when I brought it home. God is good!
Sometimes we just need to focus on what is good instead of all the things that seem so wrong in our country. I’m not sure this video really captured the beauty of this summer day’s end, but it just reminded me that God is in control, and that he has a plan for his people. We just need to claim that promise. Let’s encourage all believers to pray diligently for our nation, our leaders, and each of us as fellow Americans. God is able and God is good, all the time.
After almost 93 years walking through this life, my Mom is finally healed of all the cancer and the afflictions that she faced. She loved us unconditionally and did her best to meet every need we had. She met every day with a smile and lived with the joy that only God could bring. She taught us to love the living Lord Jesus, to be honest and faithful in everything we did, to be quick to forgive others, and to work hard for what we wanted. I praise God for my parents. My Dad has been gone almost eight years and she woke up last Monday to tell us she was ready to go home, “Daddy” is waiting on me. I will miss seeing her and playing music for her daily. These two singalongs were a couple of her favorites and while it was not easy to play in this moment it made our hearts happy to sing for her once more. Our hearts hurt, but we are so happy for her.
The blessings, and the rewards of a lot of hard work keep rolling in. Yesterday it was the steers. Today Allie showed “Pearl”, to win Grand Champion mare. I’m proud of her attitude and her work ethics. Not too many eight year old kids focus and work like she does. I thank God for the blessings of being their grandad.
A proud Grandad moment here. The girls have worked hard this year taking care of their steers, and studying the beef industry. They earned their way to the winners circle. Came away with the Grand Champion, the Reserve Grand Champion, and the fourth place steer, each one of them bred and raised here on the ranch. They are very deserving of the awards they received. I’m very proud of both them, and the herd of cattle we have developed over the years. I thank God for the privilege of living the life we live. God is good!
All is well that ends well!
Life on the farm is not all fun and games. We watched her for a couple hours and when things stalled out with only the feet showing we had to help her. It’s gratifying when we are able to save another one. Kids were relieved, as were we, to see the calf was still alive.
Sometimes, an early morning sunrise can offer a religious experience. We need only to pause long enough to worship the creator and admire his creation. God is real and God is good!
A perfect ending to a great day spent with those we love.
God has given us much to be thankful for. I’m thankful for the gift of Jesus, I’m thankful we live in a country where we are free to worship as we see fit. Finally I am thankful for my family and for the loving, nurturing spirit we share. God Bless you all and Happy Thanksgiving.
After being dry all summer we are now hustling to get winter wheat planted by Thanksgiving. It’s borderline wet but sometimes you just have to do what you have to do, even if conditions are not perfect. I love watching this drill walk over terraces and uneven ground. 50 ft, 3 boxes, 2 sections per box, it flexes every 8 feet.
After roping and loading the one old rogue, we were able to re-group and just walk the rest of them in. Even with a few hiccups and troublemakers, I love working and sorting cattle. Once again I must profess that God is good!
