Long Distance
New York was daunting, scary, terrifying, and for the first few months, the blond felt incredibly home sick. He missed Axel, so much that most nights he cried. What he wouldn't do to have the red head beside him in bed, to cuddle up to him, to tell him how much he loved him again. He'd give anything to have all that. The job was going just as expected, it was everything Roxas could've dreamed of -- and more. He'd made so many friends at his workplace, not to mention, shared his ideas with the CEO's for his book, which they instantly picked up and wanted to rush straight through to marketing. Lucky for him, his best friend was his boss. Though his boss was gay also, he knew his boundaries, and he knew Roxas was taken. Though, maybe it was just because Roxas wanted some attention, or maybe he was imagining it, but the way his boss would ask about Axel, was as if he was waiting for something bad to happen between them.
Of course, Roxas wouldn't tell Axel this small fact or even the sexuality of his best friend. It already hurt being apart from the red head, he didn't want to give him anymore reason as to why he should leave him. Not that anything was going wrong, but the distance was beginning to take it's toll on him and everything else. He could feel himself slipping behind at work, he had deadlines to meet and all he could think about was Axel surprising him and wrapping his arms around him, telling him how much he loved him. He made a mental note to ask the red head if he'd read the script he gave him, he needed final notes for his evaluation to edit before the book was officially published.
His apartment was nice, and he quickly settled in. It was homely and unlike home, he felt he could make it more about himself, have things how he wanted it. The puppy had grown a fair bit bigger, Lucky was indeed playful and reminded him much of Axel, especially when he jumped on the bed to lie with him at night. He liked that. He really wanted Axel with him, however.
The evening was the same as most others, starting up a Skype video call with Axel again, the usual. He would finish work almost the same time as Axel, and they'd both log on at half 6 exactly to speak. It was only very rare when they didn't exchange chat and many other intimate moments together through that form of communication. The blond had started teasing Axel about how he longed for Axel, how hard it was being a part from him, and soon, one thing led to another and the writer found himself fully erect for his boyfriend. He smirked and blushed over the camera, but the way his boyfriend spoke to him would always elicit such a reaction.

Roxas, Roxas, Roxas- was all Axel could think about as he ran through the crowed hallways of the airport. Heart racing as emeralds searched for the familiar spike of blond hair, Axel realised a sigh when he finally spotted and watched as the male paused in walking. With one last effort, the barista put everything into those final steps before reaching the blond, and finally wrapped his arms around the well known body in front of him.

Couldn't time just freeze? He'd never ask for anything else again. Was it possible to have just that one wish? To be able to pause time to stand here with the man he loved. Why did it have to come to this? Was this some weird twist of karma? Sure, he'd fucked up a few times in the past, but what did that have to do with this? Was he not even allowed to hold the man he loved for just a little longer?
He dismissed Axel's words with a small shake of his head, determined for the other to take the script he'd typed up and printed with the help of the laptop the barista gave him on the first day. Looking back, he began regretting the small things, Why was he so cold over the past two weeks, simply wasting time before this day. There were so many things they could've done. Day trips, meals, even being out in the snow. All Roxas ever did was take the dog for walks, smoking, and if Axel joined him, he'd only ever remain in complete silence. He was stupid, he was a fool, and had this been planned better, he would've asked Axel to stay with him. They'd barely been together a month, asking such a huge thing would be stupid -- right? Axel couldn't just get up and leave his job ---
His head perked up a little at the sound of the barista visiting. Tears continued to flood down his already tear stained cheeks. He gave a soft nod, smiling. "Ax, it would mean the world for you t'come and visit me~" he said albiet a little quietly. He couldn't find his usual voice to speak to the red head how he normally would. This event was too traumatic as it was. Now, Roxas was going to fly over to New York and adapt, have a new life, as if none of this ever happened. He supposed a new start was for the best, leaving behind any drama of friendships, Vanitas, his family. It was just Axel that would hold him back, he could never completely forget his home town because of that barista.
He loved it when his boyfriend would say such sweet things in another language. "I love you too Ax, we can make this work -- right? We'll Skype everyday, I've set up a tariff on my phone, so it'll be cheaper to text ya, though it'll still cost -- but it's worth it, so it's fine--" he said, speaking more positive of the position they were in. It wasn't the end of the world, and as long as Roxas could remember that, knowing that this was really going to work between them. Long distance was hard, but they loved each other -- that's all that mattered. Just them, no one else. Anyone who tried getting in the way would simply be shoved to the curb. Roxas wasn't trading Axel in for anything or anyone.
His soft words made the blond whimper some more. He was the one for him? He wanted to say something silly about the male going all sappy on him, hoping not all of him was completely soft. Yet, he just couldn't find the words. He loved hearing Axel speak like that. Though the two would tease each other after they'd said too many sweet, cute like things, Roxas secretly adored his words of affection. What he wouldn't do right now to take Axel home and let the male make love to him, he wanted that, to be close to him. More so than he'd ever wanted it before this moment. He briefly flashed back to that first night of intimacy they had, and damn he wanted that all over again. There time was over though, Roxas had to board his plane within the next few minutes, this really was it.
He gave another nod at the script given to the red head, sighing softly before he leaned up to kiss his partner one last time. He parted his lips as he kissed his boyfriend, moving his lips against Axel's before easing his muscle past Axel's lips, yearning for a taste of that cavern. His tongue would dance with the red head's, almost visibly shivering every time that nerve was touched underneath, making small noises as Axel would kiss him back, moaning a little just naturally. Just the smallest things could have him moan for the barista. His body pressed tight to Axel's as the kiss deepened, biting Axel's lower lip, rolling it betwixt his own. His azure optics would gaze into emerald's, a little lust clouded as he allowed one final heated embrace with his partner. He sighed into that kiss, giving everything he could into one single kiss before he was torn away from him.
Gasping for breath, cheeks heated, whimpering a little from drawing back, the blond quickly latched onto Axel for a warm hug. "I love you Axel, don't ever forget that. Please--" he asked, begging almost. The last thing he wanted Axel to think was that he didn't love him because he was leaving. That wasn't the case at all. He'd rather stay, in all honesty but he knew he couldn't. He needed a reliable job, this was best in his range, this was the best he'd ever get. He picked up his bags and slowly let go of the barista's hand. "Bye, firefly--" he gave him one last peck on his lips before turning around. He took a long walk to the gate, handing over his ticket to the female at the stand before taking it back with a short smile, glancing over to Axel one last time, mouthing the words 'I love you', before he would walk through that gateway, disappearing from Axel's sight completely.
Once outside, boarding the plane, he suddenly felt different. Sure, he was more than devastated for leaving Axel - but he was going to New York! He'd miss Axel all the time, but all he had to think of this was one long holiday. If he did that, he'd feel more hopeful for seeing the barista again. Being guided to his seat, he thanked the hostess and took a seat. No signal on his phone, he sighed and slumped his head into his hand, propped up by his elbow on the window. He looked over at the airport, wondering if Axel had already left. Maybe. His right hand clutched the chain around his neck, hues lidded for just a moment, pausing as he lifted the chain to his lips, giving it a shaky kiss before letting it slide from his grasp.
This wasn't the end.. It just couldn't be.
Wʀɪᴛᴇʀs Bʟᴏᴄᴋ
Axel was beside himself and wasn’t even sure that his words and gestures were what his boyfriend needed at the moment. He liked to think that they helped somewhat yes, but if Roxas hadn’t dragged his body to sit on the couch, Axel would have questioned Roxas if it was really ok for him to sit and listen to a somewhat delicate and private conversation. In all honesty the barista felt as if the whole thing was sprung on his boyfriend, and the fact that his mother was telling him this on Christmas Day left a bitter taste in his mouth. What would I do in Roxas position?
Move to do the internship? Well Axel knew from day one when he first saw the blond, to when those girls bumped into him that his blond has a gift- to be able to write- and getting the internship of his dreams would mean the world to him. But the question of ‘What would happen to us?’ lingered in his mind and hanging over his head as emeralds silently looked on, observing the situation. If the circumstances were different, Axel would right away jump in and try to solve Roxas’ problems by offering for the blond to move in with him and share his apartment and rent.
Relationship wise it was a huge jump, but on the other hand Roxas did offer for him to move in before his mother ‘dropped the unexpected bomb’. On the other hand, he was sure that Roxas would know that he would mean well and was only trying to help. That aside, Axel knew for a fact that holding back Roxas from a chance like this would be terrible and the red head knew that he would live with the guilt every time he saw his boyfriend walking around. However, recently they admitted their feelings for each other and for the first time Axel knew he was smitten and in love with the blond, and Roxas returned his feelings. Having a long distance relationship would put a strain on the both of them, but what choice do they have? The only thing he could do for now is stand back and support Roxas choice, no matter what happens he knew without a doubt that he would love the male no matter what choice he made.
Glancing away from the floor, emeralds stared at Roxas face as he heard those weak words. Two weeks? That means two weeks until his blond left him, two weeks of not seeing him for awhile, two weeks of not seeing the beautiful smile. After the whole depressing news, the rest of the woman’s visit was bland and depressing, apart from the fact that the blonds mother had brought presents everything seemed almost okay. Even with the presence of Roxas mother, Axel could tell that Roxas was still feeling very shaken up about his time limit and the moving.
Deciding to remain silent, emeralds watched in amusement as his blond was questioned more thoroughly about the sexual side of their relationship and how it worked. Honestly Axel almost couldn’t believe it, the hickeys were a dead giveaway- and the ‘physical side of it’ worked almost like how straight couples to do. But that aside, he refrained from explaining to save Roxas from embarrassment, plus he wasn’t all that fond of telling anyone anything about his private life.
Chuckling softly at Roxas now red face, his hand moved itself back to Roxas’ hip, rubbing there all the while smirking. A few minutes later, she left them alone once more and the happy atmosphere left him while his boyfriend was at the door saying goodbye. What now? Was the question that was circling Axels mind. Perking up at hearing sock clad feet padding back, emeralds glanced into blue while he stood up. Instantly Axel recuperated the action and hugged his blond back tightly, while rubbing one hand up and down his back, face buried into blond spikes. Murmuring back lovingly into blond spikes he answered “I love ya too Rox.”
Feeling tears stain his shirt, Axel continued to embrace Roxas almost desperately while continuing to rub the males back softly unsure of what else to do- since words right now weren’t necessary. Catching onto Roxas not speaking anymore about earlier, the barista settled on enjoying the rest of the day in Roxas company, while silently noticing how the male went silent every now and then. Once the blond was out of sight, he sighed and ran a hand through his hair. And for the first time in months he picked up the habit he thought he broke- a cigarette.
———————
The next two weeks flew by fast- too fast for Axel. Even if Roxas wasn’t aware of it, the red head picked up on everything he was avoiding talking about. The subject was indeed a sore one, but there was still important things that needed to be discussed with his blond before he left. What would happen to them? Does Roxas mind a long distance relationship? Knowing his boyfriend, Axel had a feeling that he wouldn’t say anything because he feared the topic.
But on the other hand, the red head didn’t want his boyfriend to break down about it either- it was times like this he wished Demyx was around, since he was the best at helping him in times like this. He knew that discussing what were to happen to them was the priority, but the fear of reminding Roxas of the ‘dreaded moving day’ kept him at bay- But one thing that Axel did know was if his boyfriend were to ever move back, he was always welcomed to say at his place.
As the dreaded moving day grew ever near, Axel could see the slight changes in Roxas. He too would admit that he was scared and apprehensive about the day when Roxas left him- Roxas, the one good thing that as happened to him, the only other that loved him. Against his will the day was upon them, the day Roxas disappeared for who knows how long.
Just standing there in the almost suffocating and depressing atmosphere was almost enough to make Axel cry, just watching the blond packing everything and watching all the furniture leave. Though being reminded of the memories hurt the most. The two of them hadn’t had any kind of real conversation since two weeks ago, and it hurt how little they did talk- But just bring up any kind of conversation lost its appeal.
Watching as Roxas front door closed and locked for the final time and the keys being handed over, Axel swallowed thickly and glanced away, and saw the blonds mothers car speed away in his peripheral vision. It hurt even more that he couldn’t give Roxas a proper goodbye, and that nothing about their relationship got decided. Sighing the red head got into his own car and drove back to his apartment, and opened the front door and was surprised to see Reno, Demyx and Zexion there.
His two best friends briefly described they had came to visit his house since they were both on university holidays, and Reno was just passing by delivering the ‘special gift’ that Axel had requested months ago, all the while questioning if he was too late to give the gift. Oh that’s right, the barista had forgotten over the past few weeks that he had told Reno that Roxas was leaving. What happened next was only what the red head could describe as a blur, the trio all urged him to run to the airport and give the ‘gift’ to his boyfriend and remind the blond that he would always be there when he came back- even though Axel argued back he wasn’t a sentimental person, Reno hotly fired back to become one and ‘grow some balls’.
With fire flowing through his veins, Axel took the ‘gift’ and hurriedly said ‘thanks’ to his guests and rushed out the door and into his car, speeding off towards the airport. Once there Axel quickly rushed out of the car, and sprinted towards the doors, all the while hoping he wouldn’t be too late. Pausing at feeling his phone vibrating, the barista took out the device and squeezed it in his palm after reading the text.
Was that all Roxas had to say? Not even requesting for him to go to the airport to say goodbye? Gritting his teeth, Axel started to sprint off again all the while desperately looking for a head of blond spikes in the crowed hallway. Heart skipping a beat at finally finding Roxas, he called out his boyfriends name while maneuvering around the passengers- until finally reaching the blonds back. Instantly he wrapped his arms around his boyfriends waist, while leaning down to place the bridge of his nose against Roxas back. Whispering sadly and forlornly, Axel murmured into the skin. “You weren’t gunna say goodbye?”
Pausing for a minute to enjoy the heat that radiated from Roxas’ body, the red head sighed shakily and continued after a few minutes. “I know we haven’t really talked fer the past two weeks, an’ we haven’t discussed what was gunna happen to us…But Roxas, I want us to stay together- with you. And I love you so fuckin’ much. And it kills me that you’re leavin but I don’t want ta break up, an’ I think we can still make this work. I hav Skype, an’ the laptop I gave ya has it too- My Skype’s in that laptop.”
Smiling fondly at remembering that day he gave the laptop to Roxas, he softly continued after a minute while moving the chain around his boyfriends neck, clasping the chain together. “An’ this is fer you, so ya won’t forget an’ hav it memorised.” Adorned around his boyfriends neck was a ‘X’ shaped sliver necklace, with the words ‘Te quiero siempre’ engraved on the back.
He was unsure of how much time had passed a he sat there, tear filled eyes. A few people had stopped to ask him if he was okay, but most assumed why, giving sorrowful looks to the blond who sat alone. It wasn’t rare for people to be parted by distance. People moved home everyday, for work, for personal reasons. Roxas should’ve known something so perfect would’ve never worked out. How long would he be away from Axel before he could come back to visit? One week? a month? -- if at all! For all he knew, the company probably had a certain time period in which you had to stay before requesting holiday. Would Axel even want to see him again? Was he even sad to see him leave? He was forever putting himself down. The barista was perfect, and to let something like that slip through his fingers, killed him. It made him want to run away, lock himself from the outside world, and just sit there, to be alone, until he was too weak to physically call for help. He didn’t want to leave Axel, he wanted this job, but other the last few weeks alone, he fell in love with a guy who he only started talking to because he went in for a vanilla flat white.
What if he never met Axel? He wouldn’t have had to deal with not only one, but two attacks from Vanitas, he wouldn’t have been raped on their outing out. He was more scarred from the last few days, than perhaps most experiences he’d had within his life. He’d completly gone soft for the male - figuartievly of course. He’d opened up to Axel, showed him a small insight to his past, and almost instantly did he drop that guard that he normally kept up. Their evenings together were more than amazing, often in the day would he gently brush the marks his lover left the night before. Smiling, feeling happy. Whether Axel had noticed it or not, the blond felt more inclined to make love to Axel on a daily basis. He wanted to feel loved, and he did, in those moments when Axel would whisper sweet words to him that, during the day, he simply blushed at; he felt wanted. He belonged with Axel, his heart was the barista’s, and he wanted to believe that Axel’s heart belonged to him, he couldn’t ever imagine him finding anyone better than the barista.
What if he were to return to visit, and Axel had someone else? Could he deal with that pain? What would a great job be, if he was lonely. What if he published one of his books and had a fan base? Would that make him happy? Not if Axel wasn’t in his life. Pure blue optics glanced up to the board which had the departure times and the current time. What was the point in waiting around? He might as well go and get on the plane which would be a lot more comforting than some bench. Picking up his bag, he slowly rose and glanced in the direction of the terminal. Swallowing thickly, the blond took slow, heavy steps towards the gate entrance. He could feel a pulse within his head, his body was shaking. This didn’t feel right, it all felt wrong, but he didn’t have the spare amount of money to rebook his flight, just to say goodbye to Axel. If the red head was to turn up, he’d have a good fifteen minutes before he had to leave, but it wasn’t like the barista was going to show anyway.
Ears perked as his name was called. Was that his name? It sounded like it. He paused in his footsteps to listen out for his name to be called again, assuming it was just a mistake, but to soon be greeted with a warm, taller figure wrapping their arms around his waist. He knew who it was instantly as he released the handle on his bag and suitcase. Tears pricked in his eyes, rosette lips parted to speak, to gasp, yet nothing, just a small noise of shock. The writer ever so slowly turned around to see his boyfriend, there, looking as gorgeous as he always did, but looking upset himself. A tear rolled down Roxas’ cheek as he gently placed his hand on Axel’s cheek. “I’m sorry, Axel.. for.. this--” By that he meant ever since Christmas day. Thankfully he would have the golden retriever puppy to live with him, to remind him of Axel, though he was being boarded seperately, and would be kept in the the new york station, kennel until Roxas arrived. He wondered if the little guy would be okay, but with his playful, friendly spirit he thought it ought to take a lot to effect him in any serious way. The way Axel spoke, desperate and urgent. He said those words again, but this time in such a way he’d never experienced, he just wanted to drag the red head to bed and lay there with him, sob into his arms and tell him how much he loved him. He truly loved Axel, without a doubt, and he knew he’d do anything for him. A few noticable tears stroked his cheeks, the blond sniffing a little as he now realised he was crying. “Axel, gods I fuckin’ love ya too, I don’t want us t’be over… I was just so… so scared… I’m scared Ax--” he said, staring deep into emeralds as tears continued to flood. Sobbing he wrapped his arms around Axel’s waist and burried his face in Axel’s shirt - not caring less for leaving it tear stained.
He swallowed back his sobs as the red head placed a chain around his neck, glancing down at it in awe. It was perfect. Axel always knew how to make Roxas smile, and even now he cracked the smallest of smiles for his partner. “Oh Ax, it’s perfect… I love it… I love you--” he said, naturally leaning up on his toes, heels off the floor as he would bring his lips to press to Axel’s. Albeit a little unstable, the blond managed to maintain a solid, heartfelt kiss. His lips moved slowly against Axel’s, trying to pour everything into that kiss. His lips would only move away as the red head discussed Skype. “I’ll be back to visit soon, or you can come visit me? Promise, I really want this to work Axel. Gods, I don’t know what I’ll do if ya find yerself another blond whilst I’m gone… I can only imagine how many cute blond’s walk into yer place at work--” he teased, laughing a little, nuzzling his face into Axel’s chest again.
Sighing softly, he heard the overhead voice alert the passengers that they soon needed to board. He grabbed the fabric of Axel’s shirt tighter, clinging to his love, not caring for anything else in the world other than the red head. “I don’t wanna leave ya, firefly--” he whispered, though sadly, leaning up to whisper direct into Axel’s ear before peppering his jaw line with soft kisses, not teasing, or wanting to cause something hot and heavy, just a show of adoration for the male. “I’ve gotta go now, Ax… but uh… here… It’s not exactly expensive but uh…” he opened his bag, kneeling down for a moment as he took out a script of some sort. “This was the book I started, the day I met you.. I typed it up again. It’s about this guy, who was depressed, suicidal, thought there was nothing else for him in the world, until he gets closer to this popular guy. He starts to think about things that he feels shouldn’t be right for a guy to feel about the same sex. I got stuck when it came to writing the in depth feels part, he was falling in love with the guy. I’d never been in love, so how could I relate on any level? The best I’d had until you was Vanitas. But… I wrote a bit more, and I finally finished it.. You inspired me, helped me to write the rest, Ax….” He said softly as he handed him the one script. “I’ve got the typed version, I can just print it out again. But, I wanted you to read something I finally finished, it’s the first project I’m gonna hand over to the head guy….” he said before sighing again.
“Ax, I really have to go--” he said, tears pricking in his eyes once again.
Wʀɪᴛᴇʀs Bʟᴏᴄᴋ
Shifting his weight from one foot the other, Axel stood almost awkwardly in the front entrance as he watched a ‘suspected relative’ of Roxas’ hang up her coat neatly. It made his suspicions all the more clearer, this couldn’t be the landlady since the woman bore a resemblance close to his boyfriends. Giving the mysterious woman a sceptical gaze, emeralds continued to watch as she gracefully moved herself around the house, before shooting a small smile aimed at him. Briefly returning the gesture with a small smile of his own, Axel stood rooted in place as she moved away, soft clicking sounds from her heels followed fading into the kitchen.

The writer wanted to melt in Axel's arms, feeling him stroke his back so tenderly, those affectionate words, the encouragement that helped him persevere. Unfortunately he couldn't at the current moment in time, due to the fact his mother was there and the fact she was also giving him news that was basically life changing. Roxas had a life here in Twilight Town. Friends, a boyfriend, his own place! Did his mother really expect him to walk away from all of that, simply move back home, back to a life he hated? He was finally feeling good about himself, finally feeling somewhat settled. Was she really going to rip that from his grasp. The thought dawned on him that he had in fact got in to the publishing company he'd dreamed of working with, but with Axel here, no doubt wanting to get his words in on the situation, could he really throw out the possibility of him moving that far away, now? He knew that wouldn't be fair to be announcing such a big thing without speaking to the red head first. True, Axel spurred him on and congratulated him, saying how he shouldn't hold back from this once in a lifetime opportunity, but that was all before Axel told him he loved him - loved him! And he loved Axel too. If he were to up and leave, would Axel just simply move on? That was what he feared the most. He knew distance could be a bitch for any relationship, let alone something so special and new, only just found.
"Just... Give me two weeks.." was all he could say with a weak response. He had no intention on getting a normal job and staying here, he knew now that he had no choice but to take the job opportunity in America. The rest of his mothers visit was kinda dull, she brought presents for Roxas which later appeared out of her car, and funny enough, it was almost nice having her around, just like old times. Though, it was obvious what was plaguing his mind. She stayed for a few more hours, drinking numerous cups of tea and eating many biscuits as Roxas was interrogated further about his relationship with Axel. There were many embarrassing moments such as her curiosity when she asked if the couple had already had sex. She simply didn't get how gay sex worked. Roxas' face was redder than the Christmas mug he held, it really wasn't something he wanted to get into - not after the news he was given. Eventually, she left, leaving Roxas alone with his boyfriend and his puppy once more. Socked feet strode over to Axel, the blond gently snaking his arms around Axel's waist, burying his face into the red head's chest. "I love you Ax-" He said, a few tears running down his face It was obvious as to why he was upset, he highly doubted he needed to explain to Axel, anyone could see he was moved in bad ways from the information his mother gave him. He opted to speak no more of the topic, and simply enjoyed the rest of Christmas in Axel's company, going silent every now and then, lighting up a cigarette just to take his mind off of things if for even a moment.
---
The next two weeks were the worst. Roxas avoided the topic with Axel at every mention or thought. He hadn't mentioned anything else of his books to the barista, knowing it would bring up the subject of him leaving. In the worst way, it distanced them a little bit, the blond holding himself back from telling Axel how he really felt - even though he knew they needed to discuss their relationship, but Roxas didn't want to break up with the barista, gods he wanted to stay here with him forever. He didn't see his friends, he didn't want to be reminded of all the good things he'd be leaving and misisng out on once he'd gone. Would he ever come back? Would he ever see them again? With no home to return to in Twilight Town, he began thinking of the worst. Did he really want to see his friends again, knowing their potential last memories together, could be sad ones?
Each day that passed, Roxas would grow more and more scared of the future. He really didn't want to lose the man he loved, but he had to face facts. He had to go. Eventually it came to decision day, the day his mother was kicking him out. The day he would move to new york. Wordlessly, Roxas had spent the previous twenty four hours packing, having men move his furniture and take it out. He would pack his shirts away, deliberately not looking at Axel as he would pack his belongings away. He knew he'd break down if he looked at the red head. The only time they spoke much the last two weeks was during sex. It was the one thing that still got Roxas going, other than that, he was like a shell, empty, incomplete.
Closing his front door for the last time, locking up and handing the keys over to his mother, he suddenly began to feel a lot worse. Why had he been such a dick? He'd been so cold to Axel, none of this was his fault, and he loved him - he did, but this was just how he showed how hurt he was, by shutting him out. He couldn't even bring himself to text his boyfriend before he left for the airport. Roxas didn't deserve Axel, that much was true, and now, he'd leave the red head to find someone better. The writer didn't even listen to his music on the way there, just sat in silence as his mother drove.
Arriving at the airport, the blond decided to have one more cigarette before boarding. He really should've texted everyone, to wish them a real goodbye. Instead, he was backing out, what kind of as friend was that? Taking long drags of his cigarette, he watched his mother go and pay for his flight - they'd prebooked and needed to pay. This delayed some time he supposed. He faintly remembered pre-ordering them when Axel was around, so he definitely knew what time and day he was leaving. The blond had to board his plane in less than half an hour, if Axel was going to surprise him and turn up, or text him or something, he'd have to do it soon, because Roxas and his mum really couldn't afford to switch over to the next available flight. Is that what he wanted? Attention from his partner? He always got that, but recently he'd pushed him away. Idly he took out his phone and scrolled to Axel's number, sliding it across to create a new message.
"I love you." Was all he wrote, quickly hitting the send button before walking into the airport which fucked up his signal, and sat on a bench. His mother had to leave for work soon after, saying her goodbye's to her only son before leaving him there. He wished he'd said goodbye to Axel, what was he thinking? He slings his bag to the seat beside him and buries his head in his hands, beginning to sob softly. Now he'd never get to say goodbye to Axel - and it was all his fault.
What a beautiful thing to return to, a bunch more followers - hey guys, feel free to drop in an ask, I need to kick Roxas' ass into gear and get him to interact with people ^-^

Axel just settled on silently smirking back and winking at the meaning in those words. Chuckling at the peak, the barista returned it all the while smiling back just as wickedly. The playful banter between the two was something that Axel was starting to love doing with the blond. It was one of the things that he looked for in a love interest. The fact that Roxas could take a joke and go along with the insinuations, made Axel look forward to their conversations.

Roxas wore a smirk on his features as he set to start on his hair. He assumed it was Olette at the door, she always was a Christmas freak and no doubt wanted to come around to apologize to Roxas. Of course he wasn't happy with her, and if it hadn't of been Christmas, he probably would've just shut the door in her face. He idly bit his lower lip, wondering if it was Olette. How would Axel react to seeing Olette at the door? Would he start an argument? Slam the door? Or just let her in and stand awkwardly as he waited for Roxas to join him? There were scenarios that coursed through is thoughts
Feathering his hair, drying it with the towel then combing it to one side, Roxas idly walked over to his mirror, eyeing up his reflection before going downstairs. Wow Axel left a lot of bite marks on him. Smirking to himself about the moments before, about how hot it would be later, he mentally made a note to return to his bedroom later with Axel for some sort of bedroom activity. He couldn't stop thinking about last night, sure Vanitas was a distraction, but god just remembering having Axel all over his body gave him the most pleasurable shivers. He wanted that again, and damn if it wasn't Christmas, and Vanitas hadn't so pleasantly interrupted, and if there hadn't of been a knock at the door, he definitely would've invested in some morning sex with the red head. Looking over his clothes once more and straightening his jumper, he began heading downstairs, seeing his puppy on the way down, smiling at the small pup and picking him up in his arms, giving it a small scruff on it's stomach. His eyes fixated on the puppy, he only looked up when the female voice he could hear suddenly spoke louder.
"Roxas?!" ----------------------------------------- The female had debated turning around, leaving this visit for another time, but she had come down to see Roxas for Christmas. So, even if he was surrounded by other guests, guests she already disapproved of, she'd be there to see him. Giving the smallest smiles and a nod she took a step inside of the house that she and her ex husband had helped to fund. Which was, part of the reason she was here now. Though she supposed all these things would be spoken about eventually, she couldn't come right out and say what was needed to be said, it was Christmas after all. Stepping inside of Roxas' home, still exactly as she remembered it with the exception of a few mugs left on the coffee table and a blanket on the floor, which she assumed Roxas was about to clean up; other than that it was exactly the same. She shrugged off her coat, untying the small knot of the fabric that brought her coat to wrap across her body. Taking it off she hung it up on the nearest hanger.
Glancing around she gave a small sigh and a brief smile at the red head. Roxas' mum had no intention on talking to the red head unless he was important. Tutting to herself she picked up the mugs and the blanket and moving into the kitchen with her clacky heels. Sighing louder she placed the mugs in the sink and started folding up the blanket. "Some things just never change with that boy, he always was lazy.." She probably shouldn't have acted that way in front of one of Roxas' guests, but she was his mother and he needed to learn how to upkeep his own place.
She returned to the living room, ignoring Axel and running a finger over one of the shelves covered with pictures of Roxas and his father, laughing and being happy together. She smiled for the briefest moments before rubbing her fingers together. Seeing the blond come down the stairs, she immediately called his name in shock, instantly getting his reaction and eyes on her as well as the puppy in his hands. The next thing she said, glancing away from Roxas for the briefest of moments. "When was the last time you dusted these shelves?"
Shit. It wasn't Olette, it was worse, it was his mum. Of course he would chose now to wear his revealing jumper, no doubt his mother had already seen the bites on Axel's neck. He froze. "Uhh.. Mom.." he put the puppy down which quickly scurried over to Axel happily. Roxas stepped further into the living room, of which he could now be seen by Axel and his mother. "Mom, what're you doing here?" He asked slightly scared, nervously placing his hand over his neck, trying to look innocent, but attempting to cover up the bites. Of course, this was no good, they were everywhere. He loved it when Axel bit him, to the point he could orgasm just from those bites, but having his mother here, seeing those, wasn't something he loved so much.
The woman froze, stopped judging the filthiness of the house and turned to Roxas. Something was different about him. His clothes revealed something a lot more obvious. She narrowed her hues, glancing from Roxas to the red head, staring at him then shifting her eyes back to Roxas. She shifted her body, crossing her arms over her chest, raising a brow. "Roxas? I do believe you haven't introduced me to your red haired friend here.." she said far too sweetly.
Roxas swallowed thickly, moving the hand away from his neck. He didn't want Axel to think he was ashamed of those marks, but when his mother didn't know he liked men, it was hard to be so chuffed about them. He glanced over to Axel before closing his eyes, breathing slowly, thinking of words to say, not wanting to upset either party. Moving across the living room slowly, looking down, he stood next to Axel and gave him a loving look. A look that apologized for yet another intrusion, soon after linking their hands together, fingers so naturally sliding in between the spaces of Axel's fingers. Giving a small squeeze he eventually turned around to his mother. "Mom.. this is Axel... my boyfriend." he edged closer to the red head, fearful for her reaction.
Gay. Her son.. was gay? How did she never know? What about grandchildren? Did that mean she'd never get to have any? Being selfish, that was what she desired the most from her only son. Giving an emotionless glare, she moved across the living room opposite her son and his partner, placing her hands half way down the back of her skirt, straightening it out before sitting down. "I think we need to talk... Roxas.." she deliberately didn't mention Axel's name, for she had no intention on being friendly with him.
Roxas glanced at Axel and gave him a small tug to the couch opposite, instantly snuggling close to the red head, keeping their hands linked together. There was no use in hiding the bites, how he felt about Axel, so he decided he'd act like they were around anyone else, leaning over to give the red head a small peck on his cheek.
"Mom.. before you.. say anything, I never could tell you.. I.. When you and dad kept arguing, that's when I started.. realising. How could I interrupt to tell you something like this?"
"So you're bi-sexual, that's fine, you can still have children, this is just a phase." She gave a shrug, wanting to believe her own words.
"No.. Mom.. no, I'm gay.. I fooled myself into believing i still liked woman, because I knew you would want grandchildren... But I don't mom, I'm gay, and.. for the first time, I'm in love.. I love Axel mom, and I know this is a lot to hear all at once, but I really want you to be happy for me. Axel treats me like no girl or guy ever has. He cares for me, he's stood up for me and defended me many times, he makes me happy and he makes me feel special. Please don't sit there and want to change me. If I feel this way, then I do, and.. I just.. want you to be happy for me.. for us." Roxas was shaking noticeably, standing up to his mother like this. It was beyond hard, he didn't know what to do, he wanted to cry, it was just one thing on top of another, he just hoped his mum didn't reject him altogether.
She shifted in her seat, listening closely to what Roxas had to say, and just eventually sighing. " I don't.... I don't have a problem with it, I just.... don't know much about it, so, I'm a little confused.. I can't say i feel comfortable, but, if you're happy..." she bit her own lower lip. "But, that's not the reason I came here today... The reason I came here, is, well, because it's Christmas, and.. you have to move out." She shifted before continuing, trying not to get upset over telling her son this news.. "For years, me and your father have funded your place. So, unless you can get a job or get some internship at that publishing place you always wanted, then you'll have to move back home." "I'm sorry Roxas, but neither I nor your father can afford to fund you living here any more.."
Have you ever gone skinny dipping?
"... Maybe... Yes... It was one time!"
