do you guys know what’s fucked up ? after athena died no one knew why she stayed up by the shore for so long. attina genuinely thinks that she’s the reason her mother didn’t come home. she spends the rest of her life trying to make it up to her sisters by being the closest thing they ever get to a mother figure & she’s just a few years older than them. triton has overlooked that she needed to be a child too, she needed to understand & be told that it wasn’t her fault. instead, he constantly put her in charge of her sisters & blamed her when ariel got in trouble.

THE  SEA  WAS  HER home !   her  sisters  and  father ,  her  friends.  everything  she  knew  was  underwater.   but  there  was  so  much  more  on  land.  strange  contraptions  and  even  more  amazing  people.   ‘ i  thought  you  out  of  anyone  would  understand  me ,  attina ! ’ ariel’s  excitement  quickly  turned  hurt ,  arms  folded  in  front  of  her.  ‘ haven’t  you  ever wondered  what  it’s  like  to  be  a  human ?  to  not  worry  about dad’s  expectations  and  see  so  much  more  of  the  world ? ’   she  frowned  but  her  eyes  pleaded  with  her  sister.

HAD  SHE  EVER  WONDERED  what  it  would  be  like  being  one  of  those  land  creatures ?  no ,  she  hadn’t   &   for  very  good  reasons.  why  would  she  want  to  be  up  there  where  they  killed  their  kind ?       ❛     to be amongst the creatures who killed our mother !     ❜       ariel  didn’t  see  it  that  way ,  she  knew  that  but  she  herself  only  had  the  memories  of  athena  in  the  back  of  her  mind.  her  mother  had  stayed  above  land  longer  because  attina  had  gotten  stuck.  it  was  her  fault.       ❛     forgive me ariel but i’ve never considered them anything but selfish monsters     ❜
