Gildarts appreciation (♥‿♥ ✿)
Gildarts requested by fadingsoulss! Hope you like it! (caps)
Falling asleep at one’s desk in the middle of grading was bad. Waking up from a raging nightmare at the same desk, even worse.
Fortunately, the weather was mild, and a walk had done wonders to clear her head. The grounds were fairly quiet at this time of day, and her stroll about was… Peaceful. Tranquil.
At least, until her wandering route took her past the barrier surrounding the Sanctuary, and her eyes landed on the sprawled figure of Dean Lawrence, and she sucked in a sharp breath of alarm.
So much for tranquility.
Skidding to a halt on her knees beside the dean, she carefully rolled him over onto his back, pressing an ear to his chest.
Yes, she could hear a heartbeat. And he seemed to be breathing all right…
She gave his shoulder a cautious little shake.
“Sir. Sir? Can you hear me?”
When that didn’t produce a response, she sank her teeth into her bottom lip, worrying at it anxiously, before reaching for the magic flowing through her veins.
It had been some time since she’d used her magic to heal; the pathways were rusty. Neglected. But the rust fell away quickly, leypaths surging with energy.
With any luck, her magic would be good for whatever was ailing her superior.
Originally, there was the intention of checking out the Equestrian club. While riding mounts was never Sheik’s forte, especially in an age of modernisation, there was still a curiosity. At the very least, they would head toward the Mundane Stables and see if the club was a proper fit for them. Perhaps they would be pleasantly surprised with what they found there.
At least, that had been their original intention.
There were many odd scenarios that Sheik expected on a daily basis in the academy. It was only rational to expect them with such a variety of students and teachers all in one place. Yet all the potential scenarios that the Sheikah’s mind came up with on a daily basis didn’t cover this possibility. The possibility that crimson eyes would settle on their Wilderness First Aid teacher tending to the fainted figure of the Dean.
But instant worry seized at them and adrenaline flowed through their body. No– keep calm. Sheik dropped all initial plans and hurried toward their teacher and the Dean.
Has it been only minutes? Goddesses forbid any longer.
“Professor Harkinian? How long has he been out?” They questioned worriedly as they watched her try to use her magic to ease the ailing. But unfortunately, it didn’t seem to be working at all. Simple healing magic should have worked if it was merely a physical problem, right?
Was it something more then?
A glance at the borders that rippled rainbow as the sunlight seemed to bounce off of it. No. The barriers were still up.
“I’ll call someone.”
And with that, Sheik hurried to the closest Emergency Station, drawn toward the familiar yet vibrant blue light that dotted many parts of the campus. Picking up the phone, anxiety and impatience twitched at their fingers as their gaze shot up momentarily to the surveillance camera. A voice filtered through the earpiece, inquiring on the situation and the Sheikah’s gaze settled back to the Dean and their teacher.
“Professor Harkinian and I found the Dean passed out in front of the Sanctuary. She’s currently using healing magic on him but it doesn’t seem to be working.” Sheik fought desperately to push the strain and anxiety from their voice.
“He doesn’t seem to be in a good state. What should we do?”
He could hear them -- but he couldn’t respond. As hands rested upon his shoulder, and magic tried to fix the harm being done to his system, the pain and his consciousness came back to life.
It was like he was trapped. Bound within his own body by a force beyond his control, unable to escape, to move, to... to help himself. Worse, though, was the knowledge trapped within the helmet of pain that cradled his skull -- something was terribly wrong within his school, and he was powerless to stop it.
He struggled and raged against the cold laughter that drew too much fear to be a hallucination, his chest heaving in response to the golden magic that flowed into him. Still, though, his eyes did not open, and he did not wake.
It was hard to hear words from his mouth as his lips trembled and shook, lungs gasping for air too loudly to be ignored. Still, he struggled to move them with some modicum of control, fighting to form words that they could recognize. Who to call -- what to tell them -- where to seek the help that they would need to stop what was coming before it happened. They needed to know. The students, the staff -- they needed to be warned.
But all that he could manage was another scream.
It echoed through the line to the operator, whose blood ran cold at the sound. It was not the scream of a man in mere pain - it was a scream of terror as much as one of agony. Their fingers faltered on their keys and their voice halted as they spoke, struggling to give directions to the student with whom they spoke.
“Does there seem to be a danger if you move him? The sanctuary is close by and their medical bay is staffed. Volga can meet you there in short order, but it would be best to get him some sedatives -- “
There was another scream. Louder, this time.
“-- or maybe we should get the sedatives to you. Stay put; Volga will arrive momentarily.”
*casually leaves an everyday whistle on his desk*
the power is now his
He felt... kind of dizzy. Kind of tired, too, so perhaps that was the cause. Shaking his head as he strode through the grounds, he paused, leaning against one of the trees for support. He didn’t have time to rest, though. He had to check the Sanctuary, and make sure that all was well within it. There had been injured animals and creatures appearing more and more often, as if something was attacking them -- their fences and protective wards were still up, though, so it couldn’t have been poachers. That left a creature inside of the Sanctuary. Or... Perhaps, something worse.
Honestly, he was hoping it was Volga defending his territory and not telling him about it. Or, maybe a rabid manticore. Either would be better than the alternative.
Forcing himself away from the tree, he peeled off his cloak-like jacket, hanging it over his forearm as he continued his march past the dorms and toward the stables. He could see the enchanted fence that kept the Sanctuary separated from the school from where he stood, it’s magically enhanced borders rippling rainbow in the sunlight. At least that was still standing, he thought -- things couldn’t be that bad if it was.
As he neared the fence, though, his rising optimism paused. The dizziness swelled, and a crack of pain seemed to split his skull in half. His eyes snapped wide, and he stumbled, barely able to throw his arms out to stop himself from crashing into the paved pathway. The sting against his skinned palms was nothing compared to what he felt in his head as he tumbled to the side, his cloak landing in the bushes whilst he lay askew upon the ground.
His heart was pounding -- racing, faster than it ever had before. He couldn’t breathe, he couldn’t... he couldn’t move. Dimly, he heard himself trying to cry out, felt his lungs and throat struggling to shout. All that escaped him was a weak wheeze, though, and the pain in his skull only grew. Until that was all there was. Pain -- and, mercifully, the dark embrace of unconsciousness.

❝ SO…are you married? ❞
The woman broke the silence with her direct question.Might as well start up a conversation with her boss while they were in the lounge relaxing.
He shot a quick -- and almost pointed -- glance down at his left hand, and the bare fingers that it bore. Wiggling them, almost as if he were waving, he grinned easily at the blue haired woman.
“No -- I’ve never had the pleasure.” There had always been other things to focus on, different things that always seemed more important... and too much trouble to ask anyone else to deal with.
“Why? Know any folks that might be interested?” It was a joke, really. He didn’t usually have time for things like dates...
what's the problem with cults? i need it for science
“You mean, aside from the fact that they strip you of your individuality and force beliefs upon people? Maybe the part where they’re psychotic and not to be trusted. Nobody should be able to boss around an entire group of people like that. They should be free to think and do what they want. OR, maybe it’s the part where kids get mixed up in them by their parents and are forced into this lifestyle without even understanding what’s happening -- they brainwash people. It’s sick. Not to mention, they’re dangerous. No cult is a good cult - not even if they claim their sole intent is to follow kind commandments. Zealots take everything too far.”
BASICALLY -- what isn’t wrong with cults?
if you ever want to see this relaxed guy get a little less so, just mention cults and see what happens
“Congrats to everyone who participated in the games!! It was good competition and each team deserved their hard-won victories!” Says the one who stayed on the sidelines the whole time with a parasol. He didn’t break a sweat the entire time.
“Now, this is what I like to see. What good sportsmanship!” Says the man who probably spearheaded the most secret betting. He’s such a hypocrite. “Our students could learn a thing or two from you.”
A silver Eevee jumps onto the dean's desk while wearing an omega shirt for ya size, as well as a green mini tie. It's his mouth was a small rolled up paper, explaining that the Eevee was really Doctor Alma.
“A-Alma? What the hell?” He hadn’t been expecting an eevee to bound up and onto his desk, amid his paperwork. Honestly, he had thought the door opening had been the secretary peeking in, or perhaps the breeze from the windows shaking the door. He hadn’t spotted the small creature from where he’d been sitting -- until, of course, it jumped up.
He’d had the good sense to check the paper, thankfully, before freaking out -- which meant that, now, he could freak out all he wanted.
“How are you gonna teach as an eevee? Shit -- where’s professor Lelecheur? I’m sure he’ll be able to turn you back --”

“…w-would you like free food?” the peach scented student at the stand held out a plate with takoyaki and kibidango on it. He was working at one of the food stands: one he fixed up himself.
“DO I?” Of course he wanted food! Especially something like this -- it reminded him of his travels. Just the smell of it brought warmth from his head to his toes, and a wide grin spread across his face. It was hard to equate the man standing before the peach scented boy with the Dean; he most certainly didn’t look it, not as he was. Hands tucked into the pockets of his dress pants, sleeves rolled up, and a tattered traveller’s cloak upon his shoulders, he looked more like a parent who had come to see the games than anything else.
“Did you make all this yourself, kid?”
“So boastful, are we? You should set a FAR better example than that! We’re supposed to be unbiased and judge fairly!”
“…for example, giving team Omega credit when clearly team Alpha got more points! You know… like in that last event!”
“Have you ever heard that saying about the pot and the kettle? “
“Or maybe the one about counting your eggs before they’ve hatched?
“Alpha got more points for this, sure, but Omega isn’t finished yet! I wouldn’t count them out -- they’ve got a pretty good roster, if you ask me.”
“Remember, everyone -- betting is officially off limits, especially on our students!”
“But if it were, let’s be real -- team Omega’s where it’s at.”
“Such lively attitudes! I can’t wait to see everyone at the opening ceremonies.”

Red froze up like a statue, not knowing what to do. Of course, he’s been in these sort of situations before, especially back in Kanto. He tried to think of a good excuse, but he couldn’t think of anything. The only thing he felt was anger and frustration.
“How come I can bring my Pokémon, but Reflet can’t have his Bunnits, eh? It makes no sense to me! He loves those Bunnits like his own children! And I’m gonna bring them back to him!”
@royalnintendean· )
✫★✫ Arthur groaned, sitting up. He noted Red and groaned, “Don’t worry. It was just a mistake. He will be able to get his bunnits back. His father came to bring in some forms for him to keep him.” The teacher rubbed his temples, wondering if he needed to retire. Validar was just blinking, watching the group with a very confused look on his face.
“--But what’s this about pokemon?” He’d never approved that. He knew that the creatures were often closely bonded with their trainers, and had regulations in place to deal with that fact, but he could hardly have any student running around with any pokemon clipped to their belt -- he’d seen one of them take down a building, once. He couldn’t afford to have that happen here.
“You’re not bringing those Bunnits anywhere, son. We’ll transport them back to your friend, with the proper identification gear, and an apology. I understand and appreciate your concern and... passion, for the matter, but barging into offices is not the way to get things done.”
Moving back toward his seal, he checked to be sure that the Bunnits had not been harmed by Red’s attempts to free them. Luckily, they seemed fine, although they were still agitated. He assumed, though, that being returned to their owner would fix that.
With Arthur seemingly dazed, and his office filled with more people than he’d seen in a while, the Dean didn’t feel as if he had time to waste on waiting for Arthur to find miss Arrington. So, instead, he moved across the room to his desk and pressed his finger to the call button on his intercom.
“Delilah? Since you’re obviously not busy stopping people from coming in here willy nilly, could you please send a message to the Store, and have them send Miss Arrington up here? Thanks.” The message ended with a loud BEEP, and in the receptionist’s office outside his door he heard a horrified gasp -- evidently, he had torn her attention away from whatever had distracted her and, rightfully, she was mortified. Good. Through the still open door, he could hear sounds of her bustling, and her low voice on the phone fulfilling his request.
That taken care of, he set one hand on one of his chairs and gestured toward them, beckoning each of the men present in the room to sit down.
“Please, everyone. Sit. Mister... Satoshi, is it? If it will make you feel better, you may watch as we return the bunnits to your friend. Arthur... maybe don’t make any sudden movements. We’ll need to have your head looked at by one of the nurses. It won’t do to have you teaching with a concussion. And, sir,” he said, turning once more to the confused parent. “I am, again, very sorry.”
champofpallet:
Red runs in. His eyes a flame with fire. It was unfair that they were taking away Reflet’s Bunnits! Especially since he had Pokémon. If Red could have Pokémon, why couldn’t Reflet have his bunnits? He opened the door and tried to seek the bunnits out of the magic barrier.
Touching it hurt a bit. Red let out a small yelp. However, he was determined to bring the animals back. He held his breath and tried to ignore the pain to get them back. However, he then screamed. Out of fear, Red hid behind a table. He was definitely going to get them this time!
@royalnintendean· )
✫★✫ “What!? Those are service animals!?” Arthur gasped before bowing multiple times, “I am sorry! I will tell her right away! And, apologize to Mister Reflet! They were not wearing a coat, so I was confused!” He moved to leave the room, opening the door before slamming right into Red. Arthur groaned, falling to the ground with his eyes spinning, “Heh.. Ace.. down boy..”
Why did he even have a door? Why did he bother paying secretaries? What did this kid think he was doing? Reaching up, he pressed his fingers to his temples, trying to massage away the building headache that throbbed just beneath his skin.
“I am so sorry, sir,” he said first to Validar, then, “You! Boy! Stop touching that!”
He needed a vacation.
Stalking across the room, he crouched next to Arthur and quickly checked to see that he wasn’t bleeding. Then, face thunderous, he rounded upon the student who had barged into his quarters.
“What, exactly, do you think you’re doing?”
