the fact that the creator of the dcblackout was essentially bullied out of the boycott just because other people are getting books is disgusting. people said “i don’t care that black characters/writers aren’t getting books because there are gay people getting books” and we’re supposed to act like that’s not insanely racist

emotional about grant trying to save his parents, who have not been the greatest parents and aren't even really his parents, only to get betrayed by them as soon as he's found them. he thinks he's saving them, he worried about them and he's relieved when he finds them. he doesn't even think twice when he's told that his mom wants to hug him, he just does it and he's repaid for all of this with his dad putting a power binding device on him that absorbs his energy and keeps him from moving.

and if that wasn't already bad enough, they're then murdered in front of him. because they were no longer useful since grant doesn't need "parents" anymore now that he's got powers and symbolix has him.

emotional about how grant doesnt even get time to feel hurt or betrayed or be angry with them for this most recent failure as his guardians before they're taken away from him in a sudden and drastic way BECAUSE of him (technically). he doesnt get to feel any of these things but he does get to feel angry after the fact. he gets to be angry that they were murdered. he gets to be so angry that he's lost the only parents he's ever known (even if they were terrible at being parents) that he melts the device that's keeping him from moving and overpowers the two people that are supposed to be watching him / moving him.

there's something about grant and anger and how he doesn't get the time to be as upset with his parents as he is. he doesnt really get to let that all out until damaged goods happens.
