I've been in direct confrontation with what can only be described as an angry lynch mob in the indie community. I've left blogs before because of it, and almost had my personal information doxxed because people disagreed with what I wrote/the topics I chose. I'm not one to shy away from controversial subject matters, and I believe artistic expression should never be censored regardless of how much one personally disagrees with it. Sensitivity really is an issue in the community.
I’m sorry that you’ve been put through horrific things, as doxing is illegal and is an incredibly awful thing to go through. and I’m proud of you for sticking to your guns in what you believe in !
but, to an extent, I agree with you. I believe that there are certain topics written about in the roleplay community that are written out carelessly, and without any sort of regard to those that have suffered in real life from specific subject matter (i.e. pedophila), and therefor should be left off of public forum, and done so privately. while I do think that other topics such as rape can be written in a specific way to where, if both writers are doing so consensually, with the understanding of how heavy the matter is, and with appropriately tagging and warning your followers, you can go about it; as people willingly follow such writers.
it all matters how you go about doing it, and if you understand the weight of what you’re writing, and how you’re portraying it.
but, regardless of the matter, there are no grounds for justification for exposing personal information (such as your real name, address, number, etc.), and I am very sorry that you had to endure that.
